FYI: When Davis Webb said on radio today that Ben McAdoo told him last season, “Hey, the next three weeks, you’re in,” my understanding is McAdoo was telling him he was playing, not starting. That’s what I understood it to be before, too.

Should the evaluation of a good deal be measured by just exceeding the highest paid player at a given position by 1 cent to whatever, or..by also securing a deal includes an accounting for the annual increase in the cap & .....wait for it....top player pay, regardless of position?

Another pt: Using Mike Evans' deal--who has t/ highest guarantee for a WR at $55M--as an example. Really, that number is $55M minus the $13.258M he was already set to make in his option year. If u already had 13+ in your pocket of OLD$, you can't say he got $55MG in a "new deal."

So, if an establishment is "seeking" to make a given player t/ highest paid player at their position, guess what, it is apropos to ask, based on what contract metric old/new$? That is why total avg per year is relevant bc it factors what a player already has. Total avg= real avg!

And finally, if a given player has a # in mind for a guaranteed dollars, should that given player allow a team to factor into that # what already is in their pocket? Or, should the total target be brand new dollars, which goes beyond being just the highest paid, in "old" terms?

Source tells me that the Bucs have signed former Giants offensive tackle Jarron Jones. He was waived last week. The Bucs have several injuries along their offensive line right now, so they need the depth
