what's your thoughts on Kelenic, why is he struggling so much? Also, is there any reason to keep Alonso down? Is it just a service time thing?

Alonso is mostly service time but they want him to do more work on the glove, reports in AA were better but AAA quite poor. He's put on some weight as well.. thanks LV!

I don't have a great answer on Kelenic other than maybe he's wearing down. I haven't heard them changing his swing mechanics but that's also a possibility as they have done this with new draftees in the past.

exploring moving Rosario to CF. I don't hate it.
Wow
CMicks3110 : 8/8/2018 8:06 am : link
Rosario to CF, that would be interesting. Would that be to make room for Gimenez? Because McNeil looks like the real deal and I've thought he would be for most of the summer. Rosario would/could be what Lagares was supposed to be.

It would be because they don't believe they have a starting CF on the roster.
What the hell does going HAM mean?

to CF doesn't sound like it's really going to happen. More like some internal discussions.

Dansby Swanson and Rosario have been so disappointing so far. I thought the NL East was going to have the best group of young SS's in baseball between Turner, Rosario, Swanson, and Crawford.

I opened this morning's Mets thread never expecting to link to the Urban Dictionary....imagine my surprise !! Thanks for asking and answering the HAM question. I plan to use that phrase in casual conversation several times today...HA !

There's 50 or so meaningless games to go here. Let's get a look at some of these possibilities. Every player can't be service time issue. Bring 'em up !! I'd like to see Rosario in CF, and maybe Gimenez at SS.

A-Hern back out there after being pulled after being HBP yesterday #Mets

Jose Garcia released, 750,000 bonus

Not saying it wouldn’t happen, but to say this is an overblown comment is an understatement. Ever shoot the shit with a friend or coworker and casually throw out an idea? What about this, what if that? Could happen, but wouldn’t exactly categorize it as planning to...
Alonso should be up now
Eric on Li : 8/8/2018 4:38 pm : link
they need to find out if the starting right side of the IF is in the organization or not.
BA has the Mets farm system

up 8 spots to 19 in the mid-season rankings.

Halfway there Shecky. I suspect 19 to 10 doesn't happen in the off-season, but maybe into the top half is possible with strong finishes, but that would be a big leap IMO.

Thanks for the link PJ

Steps in the right direction. If they move up one spot each month for the next month ya’ll may want to leave BBI forever. Think I was annoying with Plaw... you ain’t seen nothing yet lol
Predicted 15-20 heading into next year
ZGiants98 : 8/8/2018 5:14 pm : link
Considering there are still some graduations from other teams not factored we are looking pretty good heading into 2019 imo.
I’m also good with waiting until Sep
ZGiants98 : 8/8/2018 5:24 pm : link
To call up Alonso. He was slumping in Vegas until about a week ago and is still working on his D. No real need to rush him IMO. Ideally you get him his cup of coffee so he has some confidence heading into 2019 but either way he likely has to force his way onto the roster next year by his play then.
Theyll rise more over the next 12 mos due to other teams graduatations
Eric on Li : 8/8/2018 5:24 pm : link
Shecky mentioned it on the other thread I think but Alonso is the only guy on the top 10 list who projects to no longer be a prospect at this time next year. And they'll have likely added another top 10 pick to replace him. Hopefully at least 1 of the injured arms comes back strong too.

Yup. Exactly. Szapucki won’t be factored heading into 2019, but this time next year? Absolutely assuming health.

In 80 less plate appearances (22 less games), he has just 4 less XBH than he had in Bing. His iso power is up compared to AA and his average has gone up steadily as his BABIP has gone up. Putting up a a couple weeks of good numbers in Vegas is meaningless, does it really matter if he has a .900 OPS or a 1.000 OPS when he gets called up? Why not give him more time this year to see what he can do at the MLB level? I'm pretty sure the Phillies don't regret giving Hoskins 50 games last year.
I think Vegas often gets discounted because of the air...
ZGiants98 : 8/8/2018 6:02 pm : link
But there is still an adjustment period. You’re at a level that has guys that are on the shuttle bus to the majors. wRC+ of 125 really isn’t dominating a level yet IMO. I’m super happy he’s finally heated up, and I do think he should be called up if he keeps it up a little longer but I’m not eager to throw him into the fire until he’s a little more seasoned. I almost wish Rosario and Smith were never called up last year. Feel like it may have screwed them up.
Eric do you think they regret it if they lose him a year earlier
bhill410 : 8/8/2018 6:55 pm : link
To free agency. Frankly I don’t see the need to mess around with long term assets for September evaluations. Send him to fall ball if they like or put him in an off season training program and see how he looks next camp. Now Dominic Smith is another story. But hey let’s play some vets

He's already 23 about to turn 24. I wouldn't be shocked if they are thinking about it, but they shouldn't. He's about to pass 30 hrs/100 rbis on the year - with low strikeouts, good walk rate, solid BA. Where would the Phillies be if they kept Rhys Hoskins in the minors last year?
