I'm told #NYGiants are signing former Monmouth safety Mike Basile, per source. He worked out for team yesterday and will suit up tomorrow night against the Browns.
As an MU alum I remember wanting them to take a chance on Austin, if Basile can have anywhere near the career Miles did as a UDFA, it would be a home run.
My guess is that Gettleman describes him as follows: "Why's he available? I'll tell ya Jahdin, people look at a guy in his shahts and sneakahs with a stawpwatch and the tape goes bye bye ok? The kid can play, he' hahd nosed, tough, aggressive, SMAHT, above all he's smaht, he loves the game so we feel like needs a shawt"
Former Monmouth safety Mike Basile signed with the Giants, per agent Evan Brennan. Basile is Monmouth's all-time leading tackler. He had an impressive Pro Day that I saw first hand. His shuttle and 3-come times would have been best among safeties at the combine.
However, Basile's top speed is below the borderline number that most teams are comfortable with drafting which could cause him to slide to priority free agent status. Regardless of when or where he goes, Basile is hard-nosed, instinctive and is always in the action.
I'm surprised he was available. He has good size, was super productive in college, and had some decent pro day numbers. The one concern is the ~4.6 forty time but many guys play faster than they time. One would think he's worth a look in camp.

Graduated high school with him. Tough guy who loves football, as it helped get him on the right track. He grew up a Giants fan as well, IIRC.
He has been producing at Monmouth since day one. I'm happy he has the opportunity to show what he can do. Apparently he will suit up tomorrow night.
I graduated from Memorial too. I think this kid is the first student ever from that school to sign with a pro team in any sport.
Awesome! Didn't think there are many guys from Memorial on here, pleasant surprise. The only one I know of is Garrett Graham, who played TE for Wisconsin and was drafted by the Texans. There might have been one more, but that was way before my time.
in the thread yesterday when he was coming in for a visit. i worked for the team at MU during Mikes time there. he is a great kid, works hard and is a leader. he is a GREAT tackler and had a great 3 cone.
really good dude, always looking to learn and help in anyway. great locker room guy who really is eager to win and to do whatever he has to to help his team and teammates. glad he is getting a shot

And the reservoir is in both towns, so painted on the ground is a line with "Brick" on one side and "Wall" on the other.
I almost choked on my lunch reading that

A South representing!
Our schools go at it, but I always pull for those kids once they're out of High School, no matter which school they went too.

Watched a highlight reel, lots of rushing the qb, good tackling.
