is the double shift; the 2 TEs moved from the left side to Beckham's side, and then #13 shifts to the left side of backfield; presumably to take an outlet pass or (heaven forbid) block an oncoming rusher.
I don't know about the defense, but it sure confused me. This is the play that one writer used to exemplify Ellison's comment about a "musical chairs" offense.
It also appeared that Barkley changed his mind about what hole to take and decided to bring it outside and up the sideline. That hesitation probably cost someone responsible for contain a half step.
Doesn't disprove your point but this screen was one of the more surprising plays I can remember. I thought he would be a stud after this. Link - ( New Window )
without the ability to run a consistent screen pass....teams seem to do it against us for huge yardage...we would run a screen on 3rd and 4, and get 3 yards...

This team hasn't been able to fool a defense on a screen pass in forever. On that play, it actually looked like the defense was flowing away from the screen for a change.
Vikings ran effective screen plays so I think Shurmur may actually know how to design them.

Lol. Well played
He's very athletic of the move, that's one aspect of his game that was better than Quentin Nelson.
Imagine if your some scrawny LB or safety and thus 330 lb man mountain is running at you with a full head of steam.
My thoughts exactly.
