Paez 0-4, K
Vasquez 0-4, 2 k's
Tiberi 0-4 (Beyond awful wow. .147 last 10... is HIGHER than the .140 he is hitting overall in A+ over 17 games)
Brodey 0-3, BB, K
Kay 6 innings 5 hits 4 runs 1 walk 7 k's (Walks have been an issue at this level for Kay so this was actually a positive start 4 runs aside, also notable, yet to allow a HR over 7 starts)

I would promote Chambers and/or Sharp to Columbia to make AB's for Vientos in Brooklyn, but the Mets have signed a lot of 3B/SS types that making room for everyone isn't easy

They wouldnt promote Vientos by the end of the year, or is it too late for that sort of thing for him? Or too early for that matter.

Wont pretend to know much about who is in Brooklyn, but is there anyone of note there that is blocking him?
Law said he's had good reports on him at 3b. He will never be a GGer (most likely) but even average would be huge.
Between Gimenez, Vientos, and Mauricio the Mets have some infield versatility within a couple years or so of each other age wise.
More exciting to me than his power is his K/BB rates for a young guy. 15% K rate is great. 11% walk rate is even better. He and Gimenez are the 2 most exciting prospects in the org IMO. Alonso a close 3rd.

Not that I disagree but it's extremely rare to switch a player off his natural position during his draft year and even more so for a HS player. I don't think they were "trying" him at SS, rather not wanting to overwhelm him.

but errors are fairly common in the low minors. I've been going on the assumption that if they were willing to try him at SS last year it bodes well that athletically he should be able to handle 3B.

Yeah I don't think anyone thought he'd stick at SS - just noting that he wasn't one of the guys who profiled defensively at an easy position from day 1 (like Dom Smith for example).

Add Sherwyn to that list

is a big kid too (6' 3" + at 17), I wonder if he moves off SS before being forced to by someone like Gimenez or hopefully Rosario.

Absolutely and another big dude at 6'4, though he is already 19, so maybe done growing.
he just doesn't have the pedigree of Gimenez, Mauricio, or Vientos, does he?
Jeff P doesn't think Mauricio or Newton are SS's long term.

Your right about the pedigree but he’s the best athlete out of that bunch

Alonso 2/3 with a HR and 2B (CALL HIM UP)
Dom 2/3 with a 2B
Bing won 3-1
Gimenez 2/5 2B, SB (hitting .305 at AA)
Toffey 2/4 2 2B, BB (AA OPS now over 1.000)
