Offensive Production in the Preseason

BigBlueDownTheShore : 8/9/2018 10:15 am
Interested to see how Shurmur fairs compared to Preseasons in the past.

It's not always a great predictor of in season production, but our offense has seemed to correlate with preseason production in recent years.
Agreed

Let’s hope there’s no correlation. The last 3-4 years showed that when the first unit struggled to move the ball and score, it carried over into the season. Most of that was OL issues.
I care the most about the OL blocking

I am not really worried about how Barkley/OBJ/Eli etc do in preseason. What I want to see is good pass protection and holes to run through. Thats pretty much it for me.
I just made this comment in the "gameday" thread

I'd like to see some competence. In the past, I've said no way the Giants aren't going to score once the regular season started, and look what happened.

Competence. Maybe get Odell wide open because you ran a play out of a formation the defense hasn't seen before. Don't give away tendencies, obviously, but I hope they can put some drives together.
I would like to see some ...

this offense was so ill prepared at the start of last season
Obviously the loss of OBJ had a lot to do with that I think
it took the wind right out of the sails .
Turn the page .......
If they don't go

3 and out the entire first half like in the past few preseasons I'll throw a party.
I don't think it will say very much about the team

but I kinda expect tonight's game to be a pretty ugly slog, leaving a lot of us pretty pessimistic about what the offense will look like this season.

But generally speaking, defenses out-perform offenses in the early pre-season and training camp (if they don't, you might have huge problems on your hands).
