I want to see how the new OL performs, especially the right side.
I am also interested in seeing how Latimer performs.
The return game is also of interest, who will become the PR and KR?
Then there is the FS competition, Will Thompson tegain the starting FS?
Who will generate the pass rush?
What are you looking for?
The last few years, it obvious we can't move the pile and defenders are either right on top of our RBs or there are simply no holes.
I'd also like to see if our blocking schemes are changing.

I want him to look more like a prospect, and not like Ryan Nassib.
2. No injuries
3. No injuries
4. Offensive Line
5. Davis Webb
I'd say the defense, but I doubt Bettcher will have them show much. Especially tonight. It'll probably be pretty basic stuff.

Be cool if they show they can actually handle the stunt on occasion too!
Other than that I guess Webb, since I assume that he will play the lion's share of the game.
I was going to say that I wanted to see the new "D" but they may decide to keep it vanilla in the pre-season.
2. Want to see how the CBs perform. From Apple to Haley to Leonard Johnson. Also looking at the FS spot.
3. Davis Webb
Then Barkley of course. Otherwise don’t really care all that much about how the O starters do. I will concentrate on those I have not seen at all.
On D, I suspect Bettcher will keep it vanilla so I’ll have to wait for when they play for real vs Jax.
I’ll watch the 30-40 minute version on GamePass as well as the longer version, both commercial-free
Can he perform in a game?
OL how they begin to gel
webb and what he looks like
dbs
new hybrid 3-4 defense and how up 3 guys on line perform
I'd really like to see something from the #3 Corner and #2 safety.
Oline get some push in the running game. Barkley doing something as a runner. Backup Oline not looking like a disaster.
Poise in the pocket from Eli (also like to see accuracy in down field throws).
Young guys make some plays on specials.
Most importantly, I'd like to see signs of Davis Webb looking like he might be the future.
I'm done being an optimist if the offense doesn't look at least decent in preseason. Not necessarily tonight, since its the first game, but before this preseason is over I'd like to see some actual rushing yardage, some sustained drives, and some open damn receivers. Competent play, starting tonight.
Or what, you might say? Nothing except tempering my enthusiasm.
Yup. As I said, no MAJOR INJURIES

Except McAdoo kept it vanilla in the regular season as well, albeit injuries were contributory. Having seen Shurmur’s work before, I’m very CONFIDENT the vanilla will end when the preseason does
That is all that matters in this first preseason game. Sit all the projected starters in games 1, 3 (versus “they don’t know it’s a damn show” Jets) and 4 as far as I’m concerned.
also good fundamentals across the board, protecting the ball, solid tackling technique.

in preseason as a result of "vanilla" offense. Then, two years in a row, the Giants offense proved it really was terrible.

But it has been an ongoing excuse around here that pre-dates HWSNBN II. While I don't expect any coach to open up their bag of tricks in preseason, the "vanilla" excuse has been bandied around here to excuse poor play.
First and foremost, I want to see no injuries. But after that, I want to see competent, competitive play. Our backups should still be competitive against their backups. If we look bad executing a "vanilla" offense, it isn't going to buoy confidence that we will be able to flip the switch and execute more complex play-calls.

Webb comes in and lights it up within his arm and makes plays with his legs.
That s what I m looking for
This team is going to take time to learn to play as a unit, and if you don't play them in the preseason, the learning period is going to all come when the games count.
Injuries strike kind of like lightning. You can try to minimize the danger by leaving the starters off the field in pre-season, but you have no control. Injuries could knock out two players during the 10 minutes they're on the field in a preseason game.
It's a tough call. If you believe that OBJ's season ending injury would not have occurred if he hadn't been hurt in the preseason, then you would really have to worry when he was on the field. He could be an intentional target.
Webb and some of the potential type player Goodson Okwara
Adams Moss Thomlinson carter Armstrong and the back end
Apple Thompson Gay .
Add in the kicking game ...

yes that has always been the excuse on this site.
look like a unit that has ability..whether "vanilla" or not a keen eye can tell was will roll over into the season..and past several ones poor ol play was obvious to see.
with all the ridiculous hype, poor guy has to play above and beyond anything less he'll hear it
PDs.
