there are at least a few chefs on here or people with great recipes like CRinCA, smhsmith (or something like that) someone in Utah I think. Someone probably knows all the screen name.

Closest thing I consider myself an expert in is hockey and I'm sure I'm not an expert, but compared to some people on here I think I'd qualify. So relatively speaking I'm fine calling myself an expert.

Like B in Alb is an expert in football X's and O's, especially OL play. Loved reading his thoughts (or in many cases criticisms of other poster's thoughts).

I've seen posters give some great insight/advice as to handling personal & professional dilemmas. Obviously you'll get some LOL/WTF? comments, but those don't outweigh some serious posts.

I've gotten some computer help a couple of times (I think from Jim in Fairfax) and I've found that there's almost always someone that will take the time to assist you.

I didn't see him mentioned - anything related to air travel. If I remember right he's a pilot, and has contributed great posts anytime the subject has come up. Good poster.

many mentioned here already (Bill2, Phil from WNY, et al) are true experts who rarely post if ever, especially compared to 10 years or so ago. These posters shared excellent opinions on subjects related to the economy, history, and geo-politics. It is difficult to discuss those topics without opening up to a political discussion which isn't tolerated here. When someone spends long periods of time typing out explanations to laymen only to find the thread deleted later because someone derailed the thread with politics, they think twice before investing that kind of time in it again.

We still have interesting discussions though - you will find more specialists than generalists arise in those discussions. For example, you might want to know where to get a snowblower serviced in Oneida county and there will be someone here who can answer that. Cooking, fishing, travel, relationships, yard-care, taxes, finances, vehicles - lots of good information and discussion here.
