NGT: Guice with Apparent Severe Knee Injury

FatMan in Charlotte : 8/9/2018 8:42 pm
Guice went down after a long run vs. the Pats and is in the locker room having tests done on his knee.

Doesn't look good
Did you see it?
pjcas18 : 8/9/2018 8:44 pm : link
they just showed it on NFLN, I didn't think it looked that bad, but of course i'm in my living room and sometimes plays that don't look that bad are actually bad.

they didn't slow it down much though.
man...sucks for them

highlight and it didn't look bad, but he limped off and then was taken to the locker room where they are already doing tests.

Usually when news like that leaks out - it isn't good.

We'll see.

Derrius Guice off the trainers table and on the sidelines with his teammates.

Whatever it was doesn't appear to be serious.

Hard to tell but looks like

It seems

To many solid backs to make a bad decision taking one
It won't..
FatMan in Charlotte : 8/9/2018 11:07 pm : link
be that great a value if the MRI turns up something, but carry on.

Yes it was a good pick for them. We got the better prospect though. Carry on
There's
Jon in NYC : 8/9/2018 11:18 pm : link
a reason he fell. Injury prone and major character red flags.

He's a hell of a talent when healthy though. NFC East has a heck of a crop of young RBs.

Barkley might not see a crease like that all year.

He was better than Fournette a couple years ago @ LSU - I really liked him in this draft. But I liked Saquon more and am glad we got our guy. I don't root for injuries and don't root for him to be hurt... just sucks he's a Redskin.
Guice tore his ACL
Mr. Bungle : 8/10/2018 2:38 pm : link
Per Ian Rapoport.
Oh, man, that's terrible

Sad to hear the news on his ACL.
Nobody tell
Pete in MD : 8/10/2018 2:44 pm : link
the Redskins troll. It will just upset him.
Awful news
UConn4523 : 8/10/2018 2:59 pm : link
that sucks.

Id be fine if Barkley didnt take another snap this preseason.
That sucks. Really impressive player
Jimmy Googs : 8/10/2018 3:03 pm : link
as I watched him in the SEC. Was hoping for him in Rd2 if we didnt take SB....
Preseason football is just...

I think Barkley looks ready for the season
Jimmy Googs : 8/10/2018 3:06 pm : link

I wouldn't play Barkley anymore in the preseason. Too much risk...

Granted, he is protected by the hand of God, but I'd rather just keep him from a situation where God may not be paying attention...
Sucks for him

ACL
Pete in MD : 8/10/2018 3:50 pm : link
injuries are so strange. The play he was hurt on looked pretty benign and he apparently was in good spirits in the locker room after the game. My friend tore his ACL a few years back when I was standing a few feet away. He knew right away what it was when it happened.

It really depends on the severity of the initial injury. You can have a minor tear to a full rupture and everything in between. A rupture will be much more traumatic than a tear. The lack of blood flow to that area also can make the injury relatively painless too, assuming there is no other knee trauma involved. Either way the end result is the same, ACL reconstruction.

Part of what makes an ACL injury require reconstruction is the aforementioned lack of blood flow/nerves to that area of the knee so it can't really repair itself. The only thing you can really do besides surgery is try and strengthen the muscles around to stabilize it, we saw how that worked out for Tannehill; a ticking time bomb.
