First game, kid was obviously amped up so it's easy to paint the gloom & doom so many have already done & decided we need a new #2. He's had mostly good reports from camp.he went out last night trying to impress a regime he wasn't drafted by & it was his first actual game in a year! He obviously has a strong arm & Shurmur/Shula will work with him to harness it effectively. This coming week, he'll get a lot of time vs the Lions D which should help his acclamation. Webb will be fine!
so let's give him some time. But, it is a bit of a downer that he displayed the same issues with throwing high, being inaccurate with vertical routes 10+ yards, and just couldn't get much rhythm.

What makes you say Webb will be fine, because he works hard? I assume you never saw Webb play a minute in college, because if you had, you would have immediately noticed that this is the guy he was in Cal. Amped up or not, same glaring flaws exist now that existed in his college days. He struggled to read a defense post snap, his accuracy beyond 10 yards is abysmal, and he has no feel for the pocket.
It’s not simply one preseason game, it’s a history of this kind of play. It’s apparent to me that most fans only looked at a YouTube highlight and his college stats and concluded he was going to be great. Because if any of you watched him in college, you would have seen more of the same.
It wasn't even just the fact that he couldn't hit the ocean from the beach... His poise and awareness in the pocket was terrible as well... I would say the latter was where you could see the greatest difference between him and Mayfield...

You obviously don't go on this board enough, since the "Webb will be fine" is a parody of the "Eli will be fine"! You make good points about his past history but I think I'll give him the benefit of the doubt as he's been working since the off season of 2017 to work on his shortcomings. Now,did some of them resurface last night? Yes,they did but I think it's way too early to hang the kid out to dry after one game. He's got a week of going against the Lions D & next Friday's game to right the wrongs. He has talent,he has a strong arm-it's up to this staff to make him right. If we're still seeing the same things by the Jets game, then the acceleration of Lauletta to #2 or the bringing in of a vet as #2 will certainly be in play. But,if the coaching staff continues to show patience in his development, hopefully the fanbase will as well(Yeah,I know that won't happen)!
You just described Kerry Collins!!
I did think it was funny that Papa and Banks used the term "hospital ball" to describe Webb's first throw.

It's kinda how you judge QBs. Is he going to let this game define his camp, or will he bounce back?
Giants aren't giving up on him yet.
But I will say, he wasn't this regime's draft choice - and what I saw of the other kid - he looked poised if nothing else.

Hopefully he settles down and improves this week.
