was the ogletree coverage, i didnt like the call though, much rather ogletree be the blitzer and collins cover...
seems like collins will be playing closer to line of scrimmage and attack, which is when he is at his best...
barkley showed the patience i wanted to see, took the 3 yards rather than trying to much, 1 run he tried to stretch it rather than just taking what he could get
Remember, our major weapons only played a couple of series on offense. OBJ didn't play at all. Vanilla playbook.
Offense should be better than last year, assuming we don't see a lot of injuries. Depth is concerning, especially on the OL...and apparently at QB too.
The defensive front 7 & Landon Collins looked good. Secondary is going to be a concern (which we already knew).
Our expectations need to be realistic, they are not going to be the 2007 Pats even with OBJ and Barkley on offense. They won't be the '86 Giants on defense. This is likely not a playoff team, I've said this before last night's game, unless they catch lightning in a bottle.

Our offense looks like it almost, on purpose, does not execute on chunk plays. It's almost like we haven't been practicing it.
The plays will come, they always do in the regular season. I'd just like to see the team more sharp early.
Just the first game, but yeah, that's what I saw.
I figured with Shurmur, and his background, the offense would look sharper.

The manager of the "chunk plays" department didn't play though. When he's in there, that certainly isn't an issue.

I hear ya Hammer, but this is preseason game #1. It's all vanilla.
Make some back shoulder throws, some seam passes.....execute some quality screens which they have been working on we've read.
None of that showed up tonight.

shit passing the ball and defending the pass.

the offense looked likea bunch of dumpoffs and ran the ball alot...
Bingo! You said what I have been feeling.
WTF are we doing in practice?????
Ellison, Adams, Latimer, Stewart are the second wave of offensive weapons, and have all shown to be very average players.
If the offensive line is average to below average there isn't the talent on this team to a top third offense.
Jesus....
