The first preseason game you see the best players on the team for roughly two series, that's it. First live full speed action and tackling in an uncontrolled environment.
Rather than surrender the whole season, look at what needs to improve based off a limited look and monitor each week : OL cohesion and push, especially behind Flowers, pass coverage on defense needs to tighten up, and can the front seven become the type of unit that takes pressure off the backend including LBs whom you don't want isolated in coverage.

Pre Season Game 1 without your stud WR and the first O gets points on first drive. In a game with no game planning and strategy and you d Duce this team is bad? Learn football please. Preseason games indicate and mean nothing.
The first team units are all that matters for the most part. Some individaul second teamers will get time. Others wont barring injury. Some barring multiple injuries

Barkley lived up to the hype . Need to get the passing game going OBJ will help with hat not to make excuses but we have made about as many changes a team can make in one season
don't expect miracles but there is plenty to be excited about !
See where that got them? It means nothing at all. Just get the starters some time, keep away from injuries, keep things vanilla, and figure out the back-end of the roster. Thats it.
giants last year could of looked like world beaters in preseason, guess what they still would of sucked..

The run defense was fantastic all night. The pass defense wasn’t.

Yeah, first team offense looked good and moved the ball. That's all I needed to see for the first preseason game.
Barkley's run was really all I needed to see, but the rest was fine.
The only thing I was concerned about last night was the secondary.
The past two seasons, especially on offense, lousy preseason execution translates to same during regular season.

And one sign that should be pointed out is that we won the trenches on D, the entire game. We were generating pressure and shut down the run.
