I love Barkley but the big negative on him was always trying to look for the HR which leads to a lot of bouncing. While that initial surge was great, it seemed like there were missed assignment. I don't know if Solder and Hernandes were supposed to be on the DE without one of them sliding off to the LB.

I am ok with it. I know they will get him to push the pile when needed. The fact is that defenses will have to defend us differently with his ability to bounce it to the outside. It will actually open up the middle a little more.
RE: RE: I think he should have powered through the hole in that 2nd clip. Â
The OL had a great surge there and Barkley could have lowered his shoulder on that LB going into the hole.
Thats going to be the question with him. Does he want to power up the middle and take contact. Or just always want to bounce it outside.
I know Bart Scott always harps on that went talking about Barkley
Sometimes we want that, but on this play it would have netted 1 or two yards while taking a huge hit. I don’t know why anyone would want him (or any RB really outside of a short yardage situation) to take that hit when you are athletic enough to turn to plan B.
Too much is being made of his “bouncing”. He’s going to have plenty of carries inside the hashes. I’m glad he bounced out on that second play.
That should've been a 7 yard gain but 23 just comes up and watches him run by.
That's Damarious Randall, who's been trying to stay healthy and made a business decision.
It also shows you that - even though he's a speed RB - DBs are going to reluctant to hit this guy. He's still a 230# rock of granite and the fight or flight is gonna be a factor for DBs.
for sharing that breakdown. It is crazy Barkley did 3-4 things on that simple first run. If the OL can make some holes, we will at least have fun knowing he is going to make some plays.

RBs that aggressively look for contact tend to have brief careers. Off the top of my head, Brandon Jacobs and Marion Barber were guys that loved to deliver hits. You don't last long playing that way.
There are going to be times that he bounces outside Â

Let's say he comes up to hit Barkley -- I've seen Barkley hurdle guys that do that, or side step them. His lateral quickness is off the charts. Tackling him in the open field is no easy task.

Robbie, I disagree with you. See 1:05 in the link I have here. If you watch again, The linebacker comes up and is in the hole right at the LOS when Barkley is still 3 yards behind the LOS. If he had tried to run through the hole he would have been stopped for no gain, maybe 1 yard. He bounces it outside and sees #21 and #51 there. At that point whether he turns it up or bounces it outside he's probably getting 3 yards either way. At least when he tries to bounce it outside again he gives the possibility of beating Ward to the edge and picking up a first down, and he also avoids taking a sandwiching hit from two defenders.
Point is: you can't tell me he would have picked up more than 3 yards on this play no matter what he did, right? Which means you also can't really tell me he made a bad decision by bouncing it outside (twice). If he had tried to bounce it and Ward stopped him for no gain, sure I could see the criticism, but he picked up 3 yards, which tells me he knew what what he was doing.
I just think people are going to be so quick to say "this guy's always trying to hit the home run etc." every time he tries to bounce it outside and doesn't go 50 yards. It's just his style of running and he does have the speed and agility to get away with it. As long as he isn't losing yardage what's your problem with him taking the risk?
he hits that hole likely no gain oar maybe a yard .
it was great watching the breakdown .
Just watching his highlights the Zero to 60 speed is one of the attributes that jumps out . funny analogy set you morning
coffee on his head . Flowers looked good as well hopefully
he can live up to his potential .

He is simply great and ready to play ball right now...
After all these years it felt like he went 100 yards to me.

And we should love the fact that defensive players are going to have to be ready for this as it only makes them commit more guys focused to the run...
Nothing to power thru.
Watch again.

I’ll take the guy trying to hit HRs all day over the garbage we’ve put out there the past 7 or 8 years.
