Some tired old stuff ----opposing receivers consistently wide open, making good / great catches, opposing quarterbacks breaking contain and running for important first downs, opposing tight ends having career days. Some More old stuff ---our receivers covered tightly / unable to separate, multiple drops, dump off passes short of the first down markers, our quarterbacks unable to make gains with their running when pass patterns break down, opposing defenses looking to be in mid season form against us. Opposing back up QB's looking competent while ours having the "deer in the headlights" type of performance.
However, there were some new things ----Saquan (obviously), back up OL not getting completely destroyed, second and third string defenses not getting shredded, not an overwhelming number of penalties, like false starts, etc. I did notice that many (if not most) of the backups do have prior experience vs. being raw rookies and appeared to know what they were doing in the defending against the run. Too bad we can't carry 65 players on the active roster.
Bottom line --while I know this was "only preseason", it would be nice to be pleasantly surprised for once and see historical "problem areas" cleaned up. I hope and (at least now) trust that the team will consistently improve leading into the real season. I guess I was just hoping for more / better last night.
Last night the giants had 10 pts. They were the result of 1 great effort by Saquon on 1 run - 39 yards which basically got us the FG and the TD wasnt a drive it was off a fumble that was recovered at the 10 yd line and we ran it in a few plays later.
No sustained drives to get us some points.
I also do not believe Eli is adaptable enough. I know Tom Brady is similar, but Tom generally has an outstanding line that knows how to protect. I think teams will come after Eli all day long and it will be ugly.
I’m not too optimistic, but hope it can change.
Making any statements on point totals until the regular season is fruitless.
By the way - last year we scored 32 points and 40 points in a couple of preseason games.
Hopefully things will improve.
fans will remain but little excitement. no matter how you spin it last night was a downer. no giants fan can honestly be looking forward to 2018 for improvement or excitement.

As only slefrak can say it
the DBs didn't maintain coverage...
LBs get burned too often by TEs...
Eli and Ellison weren't on the same page, he was open and should have been a nice
20 yd +/- gain...
Dixon did a decent job punting..
just my HO
Starting offensive line looked out of sorts. I hope they aren't married to that alignment. Also I think they need as many snaps as they can get away with this preseason, probably should have been on the field at least into the second quarter.
Specials looked special as always... But they also had the play of the game, setting up the only touchdown.
If that was any indication of how much stewart has left, he will be a waste of a roster spot. I'd much rather have kept darkwa.

Eli was in for 2 series and that was it. I wouldn't worry about the sustained drives or anything like that yet. Worry that Webb looked god awful and it doesn't matter what type of game it was. He looked seriously flawed and very much like Brock Osweiler.
The backup defense was flawqed but that has to be expected considering we are playing guys A) new to the team, B) new scheme for guys who were on the team and C) we played very vanilla.
Next game will be a better litmus test. I want to see Odell, EE, SS, SB on the field at the same time.
One other item, I think Jonathan Stewart is done. His run to teh outside showed just how much speed he doesn't have and his blitz pick up was pathetic.

often going to get sustained drives in the preseason.

How many points did the first string offense score?

Seeing as Manning didn’t even play the first preseason game the last two year’s, are you comparing apples to apples?????
