Starts today w/ MUTD v LC. Who you got for your top 4? Im going MC, Pool, Spurs, MUTD. I do see a dropoff after the top 2 tho and Liverpool could win the title as well
And very excited for this Liverpool team. Although I think they are more likely to win the CL than the PL if they have a shot at either. City is too deep and too good. They can lose to another good team in the short format of the CL but over 38 games it’s hard to envision anyone keeping up.
My top four: 1) City 2) Liverpool 3) Spurs 4) Arsenal
I still love that Tottenham team despite the lack of additions and I think Arsenal will get a boost post-Wenger.
I think Chelsea will have a hard time getting settled with Sarri but will be a threat next year. I think United are going to have the standard year three from hell with Mourinho, who has been as miserable as ever in preseason.
There's a really interesting piece in the Guardian today Â
On Manchester United vetoing many of Mourinho's transfer targets. It's completely unattributed, so it's leakers on background, but paints a picture where United is saying they are not going to spend money for money's sake long-term. Hence no age 30+ players to big deals etc.
In a scoreline that flatters them, Chelsea lead 2-0 at the half against Huddersfield. Arrizabalaga sure looks little for the world record transfer for a keeper. Gonna take a few months for the squad to adjust to Sarri’s tactics.
for Chelsea as they adjust to Sarri. He’s been on the job a month. But hopefully they can pick up points in the meantime. Kante in a more advanced role is interesting. If he can add a few goals to his game then he truly is the best CM in the world. Can’t wait to see Hazard in this system.
Looking forward to catching their games this year. They've got something working against them though - they're going to have to survive the Jordan Ayew curse! You don't want Ayew as your top scorer! - ( New Window )
after Jagielka is sent off in the 40th minute. Everton up 1-0, give an opening to newly promoted Wolves to make a match of it. Sigurdsson off for Everton to adjust to the booking.
Agree that there will be an adjustment period, but not nearly as long as some think. Hazard will flourish in this system as will Kante and Willian. My biggest concern is which striker emerges from the group and whether an defensive back line with David Luis will hold up against the counters they will see all year.
If marketing itself. That’s why all of these clubs are loaded. I don’t think it’s a stretch at all to say the Premier League is more popular in the US than the German, Italian, Spanish and French leagues combined.
Why? What’s wrong with them

Will be an interesting season to say the least.
Spurs winners. Good to have Rebecca Lowe back.
Chelsea coasted in the second half - once Hazard came on it was a completely different game. Would be nice to see Morata settle in one of these days.

But it is mind boggling to me some of the GK moves made in the offseason. Ridiculous transfer fees for average to above average keepers.

The money in the EPL is unbelievable. To give you a sense, I saw the following in the Spanish Football Podcast Twitter feed:
Money spent by promoted sides in LaLiga this summer: Rayo €6.6m. Huesca €3m. Valladolid €1m.
Money spent by promoted sides in the Premier League this summer: Fulham €110m. Wolves €70m. Cardiff €30m.

Great article on Sarri on The NY Times website of all places. (Sorry, can’t link it using my phone, but easy to find.)
