Now it's Didi's turn to bat cleanup. Hicks back in the leadoff spot. Bird getting another night off against the lefty. Now Gardy is in the 7 hole, and Miggy is in the 5 hole.
I feel like Boone just puts the names in a hat and puts the lineup together that way. But hey, if it works, it works.
Probably won't be on to post much, but after 4 in a row I'd feel irresponsible not at least getting the thread up.
Let's make it 5!

Cole is turning into a turd pretty quickly. His ERA is going to be over 5 after this. Fairly certain it was under 1 just a few weeks ago.
But nope, we didn’t need Adam Warren anymore. Just couldn’t afford that salary, had to go
I think Warren was for International cash. I dont think it was strictly a salary dump.
I know they got international money back. And believe me I love the dedication Cashman has to continuing to stock the pipeline. The prospects are great. But I don’t think a team in the Yankees position should be trading actual useful pieces off the ML roster mid season when they’re trying to win, for just prospect money
I think Cash tried to get cute and balance the money by sending out Warren and adding Lynn and it’s come back to bite him a bit. Stuff like that combined with two of the three bench spots being taken up by Robinson and Voit is just a bad look.
It’s nitpicking for a team on pace to win 100 games, I realize that. But the team needs to snap out of it a bit,
To be fair, at the time AJ Cole was pitching quite well and Warren was the tradeable asset. I definitely viewed both as redundant bullpen assets. That trade didnt bother me so much.
I don’t agree with that at all
11-8 now. Ugh
Tomorrow is another day.
That’s not how it works. That’s not how any of this works.
This season? Fugedaboudit.
Oops! - ( New Window )
Yeah, I'm calling a bit of BS on that one. If not that then a little cover your ass after the fact.
Boone said nothing about any of that pre game, in fact he said he didn't even talk to Walker about sitting him, and imagined he'd want to play and be pissed he wasn't.
If he didn't even talk to him before making the lineup how did he know he supposedly wasn't feeling well? I'm sorry but Boone can't have it both ways. He flat out said he never talked to him.
Funny to me how in that article he goes on to say how he'll probably play some OF. Amazing how quickly the illness and sore neck heals.
I guess it’s better to call him a liar than to admit that you jumped the gun AGAIN and continue to ruin game threads with your incessant whining about who’s playing and who’s not? Nothing like doubling down on your stupidity
What would Boone have to gain about lying about Walker being banged up?
I guess it’s better to call him a liar than to admit that you jumped the gun AGAIN and continue to ruin game threads with your incessant whining about who’s playing and who’s not? Nothing like doubling down on your stupidity
What are you talking about? Of course he wouldn't rather lose, and I never said or insinuated he would. Just because you disagree or have a different opinion doesn't make you putting words in my mouth or reading something into a post that isn't there ok to do. Talk about dumbing down, how about a little reading comp?
If he was sick or sore why not just keep it at "I'm resting him tonight"? Why go on from there and make a point of saying how he was sure Walker expected to play, would be pissed he isn't, and he never even talked to him? Again he can't have it both ways.
I'll admit when I first saw the lineup it pissed me off seeing Walker coming off a two homer night sitting while Voit got to play. What Yankee fan wouldn't have a similar thought? I posted my frustrations with that and then after seeing Boone pre game, it made me question the decision even more because there was NO mention of anything being wrong with Walker, in fact he never even talked to him. How would he know how Walker's doing if he never talked to him?
As far as me calling him a liar, I do think he's fudging the truth here after the fact. If Walker was sore or ill and he didn't want it known for some tactical advantage, why bring it up after? Wouldn't he still want that kept quiet? Why go on now to say he's going to play some outfield? He can't be too ill or sore.
If he is ill or sore, fine, but it makes no sense to me to say he never even talked to him before game and then say after the game he was ill and sore Which one is it because it can't be both?
What would Boone have to gain about lying about Walker being banged up?
I agree with that but maybe to cover his ass a little after the fact?
My point is he went out of his way pre game to say he never even talked to him before he made the lineup. Why go that far and not just leave it at I'm resting him if he wanted to keep him being sore a secret? Then say post game say he was ill and sore and that's why he didn't play? One of those is a flat out lie, no?
Why not just pull a Belichick and give as little info as you have to? If you saw him pregame he was laughing and joking about Walker and how he was sure he'd be pissed, and expected to play but no, I didn't talk to him, and not sure I want to. It sure seemed at that point it was a managers decision to rest him like he said the reason was. Then after he's ill and sore? That's a bit disengenuous at the very least to me.
If the trainer relays to Boone that player ABC has an issue, Boone doesn’t have to speak to the player himself.
If the trainer relays to Boone that player ABC has an issue, Boone doesn’t have to speak to the player himself.
If you saw the pregame presser there was no reason to think Boone was lying about just giving him a day off. He made a big deal about how he's sure Walker expected to and would want to be playing. How he's sure he's pissed he isn't playing but hasn't talked to him and isn't planning to because he knows Walker wouldn't be happy with him.
He made a big production of it instead of just saying he's giving him a day off. (Which he said was the only reason) Why go to all that if it wasn't true?
And no I don't think a manager has to talk to every player pregame but I'd expect a good one to check in on most and talk to a hot player about why he's sitting him, especially coming off a two homer night. I mean being a good communicator was one of the main reasons he got the job, right?
Why wouldn't he talk to him about sitting him? I took Boone at his pregame word and it almost seemed like he didn't want to talk to Walker because he knew it wouldn't be a fun conversation, and one he wanted to avoid.
Then post game he gave a different reason for sitting him, so yes, like I said, I'm calling a bit of BS going on there somewhere, and based on his pregame, I think the BS came post game. Boone's not that great of an actor to pull off that pregame if it wasn't true. If he was sore he should've just left it as I'm resting him and not go through that dog and pony show like he did pregame.
Andujar with the two run oppo to put the Yanks back up by two 5-3.
The kid is in my mind ROY. Comes up big in so many spots.

There was one but last post I saw was around 2:30, and now it's gone.
I think you're right about Miggy. He's nudging ahead of Gleyber for ROY. I hope they both keep battling to the end for it as it'll only help the team.
To me, Miggy seems to just play and doesn't get too amped up over much. Where I think Gleyber might put a bit too much pressure on himself, and try to do too much at times.
Gleyber really has not looked like himself since coming back. Hope he’s not still nursing the hip injury.
Bullpen needs to get right. Britton is untouchable for years and now he can’t throw strikes consistently here. Frustrating. I’m a bit nervous about Chapman here in the 9th in the rain
Quote:
Can we get a nice quick one from Chappy here?
A Chappy-quickie? Where's Ted Kennedy?
Haha. Not bad, not bad at all.
Doesn't look like we'll get it but just get me three outs and don't have the rain mess him up or stop the game.

Nice!
Not getting my wish... but get this last out and it's all the same.
I still don't believe Chapman is 100% - Britton also hasn't been as good as we need him to be.
Still - that's 5 wins in the last 6. Doesn't feel like it, but that doesn't matter.
Let's go for the series win tomorrow and the Sox, and A's drop a game tonight.
Was very confused where it went.
This board has been unbearable this week. Truly. All the doom and gloom threads (like a LOT) about the Giants FIRST preseason game and the Yankees playing half assed has made the whole board pretty gross.
But 5/6 aint bad. Its better than splitting these last six games like we were playing the O's thats for sure.

like you said, it was ridiculous.
We were leading in like 7 of the 9 innings and you'd think we're about to get swept.
SOrry for the confusion, but enough is enough with this bitching in the game threads. We're winning 5 of 6 now...

Unfortunately the Sox have already won the first game of their DH today, 5-0. A loss tonight would be great but damn, they are playing incredibly.

A bit too nerve wracking for my liking but a win is a win, and I'll be happy to take it.

The Sox are gone. They are the best team in baseball, regular season. For get about it......
Yanks just need to be best WC team and let it happen from there.

No doubt. Even when their pitching shits the bed like last night and they give up a dozen, their O comes through and they win by a touchdown after trailing 8-3.
Seriously, I know they're hot and playing well, but how does any Major League team give up 19 runs? Poor Buck, I bet he can't wait for this year to end.
While it does look grim for the Division, I'm not giving up hope yet. The Sox play the Phils and Indians soon so hopefully they cool off just a little. Then they have a pretty tough September including six vs the Yanks.
If we can knock off 2-3 games this month, (hopefully even more) I think it could get real interesting to close out the regular season.
No doubt it'll be tough arc, and unlikely. We'll also need some help too but I'm just not at the point of conceding the Division yet.
I'm sure part of that is because it's the Sox and I can't stand them. No way do I want to concede anything to them and am always hopeful they'll crash and burn.

Having 6 left against them helps - but we'd have to put a good dent in their lead and win about 5 of those 6 to have a realistic chance. It's not out of the question, I'm just kind of assuming that the 4 game sweep really took us out of that race. Still time.. we will see...

I certainly feel you on that - my blood was boiling the entire series against them a couple weeks ago. Can't stand the stupid fucking fans, either.
Nothing wrong with hanging onto some hope. Just gotta keep winning games and see how it plays out.
