D. Njoku vs. E Engram - Who will be the better pro?

Grey Pilgrim : 8/11/2018 10:24 am
Right now it's looking like Njoku. Very nice game Thurs night.

No it’s doesn’t
cokeduplt : 8/11/2018 10:25 am : link
Look at their stats from last year. The amount of over reactions from week 1 of preseason is absurd right now
After 1 preseason game?
PatersonPlank : 8/11/2018 10:27 am : link
Definitely EE.
That's BS.
mittenedman : 8/11/2018 10:29 am : link
He made 1 play and you're going Lady Gaga?

Engram had a much better rookie season and the Browns have been disappointed with Njoku thus far, FWIW.
Right now?
UConn4523 : 8/11/2018 10:31 am : link
so you choose to ignore Engrams far better rookie year and instead look at a preseason game? Holy fucking logic.
If you noticed
lecky : 8/11/2018 10:34 am : link
for some reason they had a linebacker lined up 10 yards away from Njoku and they asked him to cover him one on one. Had to make up 10 yards before he even got to him. And on the other side of the ball for some reason (in a preseason game) Eli chooses top not even make one throw to the tight end. Engram is a stud, but we need to get him the ball. And Eli needs to spread the ball around, something he has never been really good at.
They are concerned in Cleveland’s.
LauderdaleMatty : 8/11/2018 10:35 am : link
Pat Kirwan reported while he was interviewing him live an NFL person texted him and wanted him to ask the kid how much he loved football.

Any saying one or the other is premature. Engram looked better last season. Let’s see year two for both. Placing a lot of emphasis on Thursday is just strange IMO
Njoku is the better blocker?
robbieballs2003 : 8/11/2018 10:55 am : link
Where is the evidence? He is not a good bkocker at all. And the people criticize Engram too much for his blocking.

Evidence Njoku?
They should both be good players,
barens : 8/11/2018 11:01 am : link
does that settle it?
Here are some clips.

on a broken coverage and a jump ball scramble drill and he is the better pro? Browns would trade Njoku for Engram even up in a heartbeat.
RE: Well Njoku is bigger, stronger, better blocker, better hands

But yes, somehow Engram is going to be the better player.. okay.

Engram is quicker and a tad faster though , better route runner also. Overall a slight notch or two more athletic

A tad faster? Engram ran a 4.42 40 yd dash compared to Njoku's 4.64 at the 2017 combine.
Wow, amazing conclusions by Pilgrim.

So the OP thinks Njoku will be better
Larry in Pencilvania : 8/11/2018 11:41 am : link
When in year one Njoku did lead Engram in games played while Engram doubled Njoku's receptions and almost doubled his yards. Engram also had more touchdowns, but yeah Njoku had a good showing in a meaningless game that had no game planning so all of the data points to him.

Njoku will definitely be better

Yep. We should act quickly and trade Engram for Njoku straight up right now, before the rest of the NFL figures it out.
Njoku looked good, definitely a physical specimen
regulator : 8/11/2018 12:24 pm : link
but Engram was better as a rookie in every metric.
Does it matter?
BigBlue4You09 : 8/11/2018 12:35 pm : link
They can both be great
Gotta admire Denny's insanity

Come back after week 17 and ask that question again.

A big part of it is who their QB is and what offensive scheme. If EE only has Webb throwing to him for 10 years DN would have way better numbers. That’s the reason DN’s numbers were not good last year. (They both drop too many passes.)
Engram is at a disadvantage since he
Jimmy Googs : 8/11/2018 1:27 pm : link
can't play against our linebackers once or twice a year over his career...
you would hope

they both wind up great as TE prospects drafted early often are busts.

I hope this batch of TE's is legit
I think both
TommyWiseau : 8/11/2018 2:29 pm : link
Will be better then Howard when all is said and done.
I said preseason..
FatMan in Charlotte : 8/11/2018 2:51 pm : link
games are relatively meaningless.

I was wrong. They serve a purpose to identify posters with a horrendously low IQ
I wanted Njoku ..in he draft
Bluesbreaker : 8/11/2018 3:08 pm : link
If it was between the two I am going Engram . I think he will
consistently put up better numbers not saying that Njoku
can't be dynamic but Engram is the better receiver .

Haha very true
Njoku has better hands?
KWALL2 : 8/11/2018 4:02 pm : link
That isn't the case. Engram adjusts to the ball more like a WR. Njoku doesn't.

He's very athletic but a little goofy. Engram is the smoother and more explosive athlete with better body control.

Njoku is a matchup problem but I'll bet on our guy.
Who is the better WR
Coach Red Beaulieu : 8/11/2018 4:23 pm : link
Antonio Callaway or OBJ?
So we're going to
LakeGeorgeGiant : 8/11/2018 4:33 pm : link
give one preseason game more weight than the evidence of their entire rookie seasons?

A lot of folks aren't so good with the big picture around here. We can only analyze what's in front of our face at that exact moment.
Njoku has better hands?
SHO'NUFF : 8/11/2018 4:59 pm : link
LOL.. there is legitimate concern about his hands.

Agreed.
Njoku is a project just like Eric Ebron was
Ten Ton Hammer : 8/13/2018 10:41 am : link
With the same concerns-hands.

Meanwhile for some reason our own fanbase downplays Engram's undeniably productive and encouraging season.
Njoku?
JonC : 8/13/2018 10:42 am : link
Engram was the better player in 2017 and has more tools and upside.

I think it was on the safety, who was late getting over. I would hope the scheme wasn't to have Ogletree cover the TE all the way downfield.
