Boone has to mix and match. I don't understand all the moaning and groaning outside of one specific person who has a VERY pro-Girardi/anti-Boone agenda.
This team is 30 games over .500- yet if you read the Negative Nancies on this board on a daily basis, you would think they were 30 games under. Get a grip Nancies.
And I can bitch a good game. I hope they can keep Sanchez and Judge on the bench until 100% healthy. They are no worse than 2nd WC and likely no better than 1st WC.
I also think they should shut Frazier down for year and get him ready for next season. Those concussion symptoms will not go away without rest.
It's not a huge deal, I'm just not sure why he's moving players around so much. He has a different guy batting cleanup every day. Stanton in the 2 hole has been one of the only constants since Judge went down.
At least he trusts Walker in RF - seeing Robinson in the lineup every day was getting tough to stomach. Guy sucks and doesn't even look like a major league player.
I think Kyle said he looked like a guy that won a fan contest to travel with the team for a day or something... honestly made me laugh because of how dead on it was.
about the lineup changing. Do you lose money on it?
Players like a routine. The swings in the order are pretty dramatic day to day.
"Good News" - Walker was sick the other day he sat after the two HR night. So Boone's hand was forced.

I guess for me it just never made sense to juggle an order like this. Fine...we're missing 2 big bats. That doesnt mean the whole order should be shuffled game to game to me. Baseball players like familiarity and moving things around all the time just annoys me.
I for one have been complaining about the recent stretch of games because they've look uninspired on the field. But I have been encouraged by even the smallest of bright spots hoping they wpuld go on a tear. Here's to that.
Question: does Loasiga get vaulted back into the rotation when he returns from injury even if Lynn continues to pitch well?

If that was the case I think he’d do it less. We can’t just assume he players don’t like it. Or, maybe Boone doesn’t want them comfortable in the traditional sense.
Hard to critique something like this, too many variables and personalities.

If it didn't matter, why do most teams keep their lineups/batting order fairly static. Have you seen other teams move 5, 6, 7 players around day to day? Is it metrics?
He's squeaking out wins, so it shouldn't matter, should it?Does it make the opponent uncomfortable? I suppose after the 1st time thru the order, it does not matter.

I cant quote anybody, but I can almost guarantee players prefer to have a steady spot in the line up. You know whrn you're gonna bat inning wise. You gain a familiarity with the guys around you in the order... "If this guy gets on I need to take a few to let him try to steal." "The guy behind me is good with driving in runners so I just have to get on..."
I know when I played I liked batting in the same spot (although I always batted lead off, lol).

Anyway, let's start up another streak here.
Orders from the nerds. The lineup is based on matchups, park factors, splits etc.

Haha yeah that was me. He also looks a lot like Cashman, maybe that’s what got him on the squad. Sugar Shane getting a rest today, he’s earned it
It's the same deal - once again Luke Voit is playing because he's a right handed hitter and nothing else.
Greg Bird hit two doubles yesterday. Unless they want him to be a straight platoon player, keep him in there. He's going to have to learn to deal with lefties.
Sometimes you have to stop worrying so much about what the book says and just play your best players. Voit sucks and the Yankees are putting a lot of trust in Greg Bird to be their guy for the long-haul at 1B. If that's the case, these are days where he should be playing.

Haha, he does look like a crappy ballplayer version of Cashman. I've said that too.
if Cashman wasn't part of the lineup construction on a daily basis. Not saying he is the one that makes up the lineup every day, but i think he's part of the decision making process each day when it comes to the lineup.
He clearly wanted a puppet as a manager and someone who was completely analytics based.

Yeah chopper that's pretty much my take on it too.
I'd want the players to be as comfortable as possible so they can just play and not think too much. There's enough in game situations they have to think about, and if they don't have to think about how guys around them approach at bats, and instead just know from it being the same most of the time, then I think that's a good thing.
It's not a huge deal by any means but something I'm not crazy about.
I do like seeing Miggy moved up to 3rd today because he's earned that. I hope he grabs that spot by the throat and doesn't give it back just like he's done with his starting spot.
I don’t think it’s beyond the realm he gets to 50 again. Amazing how locked in he is
Seems like he has been locked in ever since that walk off HR @ home back in May. Even the singles and doubles he's hitting are absolute ROCKETS. He's just murdering everything.

Singleton has been saying recently how Stanton is a huge routine guy and does things the same times and ways pretty much every day. He thought it was just a matter of time until he got comfortable being on a new team and all the changes that go along with it.
It sure looks like he's settled in and comfortable now and has got his routine down. Now he just goes out and does his thing.
He's been looking great for a while now, and has stepped up big time while Judge and Sanchez are out.

Ironically, he's the one who DOES seem to be left in the same lineup spot almost every day. He's been in the 2 hole pretty consistently since Judge went down and seems to be very comfortable there.
I should have said this earlier this week but wanted to apologize for my part of the argument we had last week. We both went over the line. I have been dealing with a lot of shit but still should control my emotions better. We all want the same thing, the Yanks to win, so no need to let it become personal. My apologies

Yeah, if they keep swinging early they'll never see the BP!
Great play by Didi..impressive spring up and throw.
Gotta love all the runs, though. This is what we should be doing against a crappy pitcher like Perez.
Great pick by Voit to save him and CC.
