#62: Highlander
Sean Connery was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2000, so it seems fairly safe to assume that Her Majesty has never seen Highlander or its first sequel (both of which featured Connery, marking the only recurring role for the star aside from the 007 series). Those two films launched what now is our lowest-ranked film franchise in history, thanks to an average Metascore of 26.
The fantasy series about a group of immortal warriors (led by Christopher Lambert's Connor MacLeod) developed a cult following despite terrible reviews and little initial moviegoer interest, and that was enough to sustain the franchise for four feature films, six seasons of a syndicated television series, a TV movie (2007's Highlander: The Source), and an anime film (Highlander: The Search for Vengeance). A franchise reboot has been in development for the past decade.
The films:
24 Highlander (1986)
31 Highlander II: The Quickening (1991)
28 Highlander: The Final Dimension (1995)
21 Highlander: Endgame (2000)

There are two or three solid movies in each of those franchises.
Some of the ones ahead of them had mostly shitty movies for the whole franchise.
Barbershop better than Rocky? I don't think so.
Oceans way too high, Muppets way to high. Spiderman way too high. Bourne way too high. Mad Max too high. In fact, all the super heroes are too high.
Vegas Vacation is my favorite one!
I actually caught the trailer for the next entry. I don't think any of the original cast remains.
box office by franchise
It includes massive franchises, like MCU, as well as individual "franchises" within them, like Iron Man. As well as single films which will be franchises, like Avatar.
#1 - 100%
#2 - 90%
#3 - 60%
This put the trilogy at 83.3%.
ITs starting to become apparent that not alot of thought/work went into this list.
Millennials, man.

OH, I just saw it needed to be at least 4 films. My bad.
Besides which, counting every shitty DTV edition of some of those supposed franchises in order to get to four is just stupid.

I’d like to see a list like this based on how much money each franchise brought in, etc.

Thx. I’d still like to see entire franchises listed and ranked out rather than used in a search tool. (Adjusting for inflation would be cool too)
or Beverly Hills Cop.
You need 4 films.
This refers to the Swedish produced trilogy of movies for the “Dragon Tattoo” series, not the Hollywood remake.
Again - terrible list.

Yeah, no, I don't care how bad Vegas Vacation is, that's ludicrous.

Again - terrible list.
Swedish Erotica was number one in the 70's
