NFT: Better Call Saul Season 4 Episode 2

BigBlueDownTheShore : 8/13/2018 3:25 pm
Everyone ready for tonight? Interested to see if Mike can get his business up and running.

Not really sure which way Jimmy is heading. His main story line is kind of over with.

I guess it's full steam ahead to Saul.
Well he still
pjcas18 : 8/13/2018 3:28 pm : link
has to alienate/piss off Kim, which I think is coming this season just not sure exactly when.

Yeah that is going to happen for sure, but the show has been pretty much about him and his relationship with his brother.

Kim was the secondary story-line for him, and we know that is going to crash and burn. Without the feud with Chuck is Kim the main antagonist?

I think it started at the end of Ep 1, she gave him quite the look when he dismissed Howard's anguish. I'm curious where the Cinnabon flashes fit in. My guess is that it is where he gets relocated after Breaking Bad, and he has to go into witness protection. It makes me wonder if there is a BB sequel after the prequel.
Agree with both comments

I just think after Chuck, Kim was the last thing holding Jimmy back from going "full Saul"
of course the cinnabon
elisha2014 : 8/13/2018 3:41 pm : link
flashes are after BB takes place. He's was terrified of being found out when he checked out of the hospital.
I think Chuck is going to
BigBlueDownTheShore : 8/13/2018 3:44 pm : link
screw him in the will as well. Even though Jimmy is the blood relationship he has, he is surely going to give it all to his ex wife. If Jimmy hadn't burnt that bridge, he might have made out with a ton of money.
I feel like
pjcas18 : 8/13/2018 3:47 pm : link
Saul referenced to Walt many times he'd "wind up managing a Cinnabon in Omaha" in Breaking Bad.

So clearly that is a flash forward and the Cinnabon reference is not a coincidence, otherwise it wouldn't make sense for Saul to say that in BB.

I assumed he had a fake identify that's why he freaked when the lady kept making typos with his DL number.
Kim is really interesting to me

Last week, when Jimmy threw Howard's guilt trip back in his face, I thought we saw a hint of her starting to pull away from Team Jimmy. This week, she nearly tears Howard's face off on his behalf (and I'm not totally sure it was justified).
Not sure I'm getting the whole deal with the JH doc
BlackLight : 8/14/2018 2:57 am : link
Gus has her flown in to help Hector get better, because Gus hates him so much, he'd rather Hector survive as a conscious vegetable?

I'm not so sure she was flown in to get Hector better. I think maybe he wants to make sure Hector remains in his current state. a dead Hector causes challenges and challenges cause chaos and chaos brings the DEA. I think Gus wants the Salamanca cartel operating as it always did only with him calling the shots not Hector. Or something like that.

What I want to know is how did Gus know Nacho switched the pills? I know he had a guy follow him and saw him throw something in the river, but no way he could have retrieved it, right?

So I’m trying to figure out
BigBlueDownTheShore : 8/14/2018 8:34 am : link
If Jimmy is trying to actually get a job or if this is just his way of grieving as far as self sabatage goes.

I love how we all read into the final scene of the last episode and thought Jimmy just passed the guilt off to Hamlin. Kim saw a completely different thing and Hamlin was kind of a jerk for doing it to, but the audience as a whole didn’t see it that way.

I think Jimmy eventually find that letter from Chuck and that’s what pushes him over the edge. Also as predicted Chuck gives him barely anything and one final fuck you from the grave.

I think that, ultimately, he wants to be a lawyer. He doesn't want to sell copiers or do anything else with his life. In his mind, taking a job like that would reinforce what Chuck always believed about him - that he's a lifetime underachiever (at best).
I'm going back a tad
Rover : 8/14/2018 2:29 pm : link
But why again did Chuck kill himself?
Was it because Jimmy got a slap on the wrist, becaus ehe lost his job, or both?
I knew I recognized the Neff Copier guys from somewhere
Sonic Youth : 8/14/2018 2:30 pm : link
Turns out it was Uncle Jack and the Waiter/HR guy from Always Sunny.

Cue BIG HANDS jokes.

It was probably a culmination of things, but the proximate cause was getting run out of his own firm because he was no longer insurable (thanks to Jimmy).
Coupled with reality slapping him in the face, in that...
Crispino : 8/14/2018 4:56 pm : link
he knew he really WAS crazy. The last mad, vain attempt at finding the source of his ailment, only to realize that problem in his mind wasn’t going to go away.
Chuck was uninsurable
fkap : 8/15/2018 8:06 am : link
thanks to Chuck.
the insurance company found out about Chuck's condition because of Jimmy.

Chuck doesn't know about Jimmy's actions. He only knows that he is unable to be a lawyer, which is his entire world, because of his illness, which he has come to realize is entirely his own doing. Because he doesn't know about Jimmy's actions, he can't scapegoat the blame onto someone else (usually Jimmy).

Still trying to figure out
Rover : 8/15/2018 1:35 pm : link
The last episode, like that whole drug deal was a setup?
Why kill Nacho's companion but not him?
And was it Tytus who gets whacked in BB?

My take is they wanted to see how he handled the only 5 Kilos instead of 6 thing. Would he back down or not and if he did, they could control him.

When he didn't back down they went to plan B by killing his companion and Gus telling him he knew what he did in order for Gus to have control over him.
Still don't know
pjcas18 : 8/15/2018 1:49 pm : link
how Gus knew what he did with the pills unless that pill bottle was retrieved from when Nacho threw it.

Didn't somebody observe him throw the pills? I didn't get an impression that they discovered the specifics, but they probably just put two and two together.

Someone observed Nacho throw something off a bridge and he looked pretty far away to even be able to tell what Nacho threw.

IMO that's a far leap to knowing Nacho caused Hector's stroke by switching his pills or even having any involvement. Normally this show doesn't take so many liberties with plot (from what I recall).
yeah, I agree it's a leap
santacruzom : 8/15/2018 2:17 pm : link
But ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
also, the show does have a tendency
santacruzom : 8/15/2018 2:19 pm : link
of presenting omniscience in various characters that don't really stand up to much scrutiny.

Gus leaving a note on Mike's car to stop the shooting comes immediately to mind. Or nearly everything Mike does.
There's probably a named filmmaking technique
BlackLight : 8/15/2018 3:36 pm : link
where a character basically "borrows" the omniscience of the audience in making a deductive leap. When they can pull it off, it's easier than complicating the narrative by orchestrating a series of events where the character finds out the secret like a normal person.

That's basically what happened with Gus and Nacho.

I think when Gus read the report handed to him by his guy spying on things at the hospital he figured out what Nacho did. At least that is how I interpreted it.

Now......... How Gus can figure out foul play from that but the doctors at the hospital cant I have no idea.
Any guess as to what Jimmy is up to with the Hummel
Pete in 'Vliet : 8/15/2018 4:45 pm : link
Half of $8,700 isn't THAT much for him or for a guy like Mike (who is now getting $10k checks on the reg from Gus/Lydia.) Probably not worth a samll time break in (though I'm sure Mike could do it sleep walking).

The only thing I can assume is he is planning on giving it to the old lady from Sandpiper in order to make up for the hardships he caused for her. If I'm correct, he will pretend to sell it and give Mike the money from Chuck's inheritence check. It would be another balancing act by Jimmy, between wanting to do the right thing and his "need" to keep slipping Jimmy alive.

I thought Gus knew just by his own perception.
Gus is smart, he knew Nacho's dad was being squeezed, he could tell Nacho was hesistant, it was a hunch.

Strictly speaking, he's working for Madrigal for free. The money is already his.
going back to the future (in BB)

Gus has a miraculous ability to know all, see all, predict all, and even do all (including sweeping the parking lot/picking up trash during his spare time running a drug empire). It's one of those things you just accept as part of his being a cool character.
