So what moves have you made already ?
Replace Flowers? Sign Dez?
haha
TeamSchlitz1 : 8/14/2018 12:23 pm : link
Signed Dez, Hankins (played him at DT- 87 overall), traded Snacks to the Bears (ended up being 5th pick and a lineman).

In year 2 now and the offensive and defensive lines are still taking shape.
also..
TeamSchlitz1 : 8/14/2018 12:25 pm : link
drafted a qb who unseated Eli and won the superbowl in his first year. Beckham (97), Shep (91), Engram (87) and Barkley (88) sure looked to help him out.

His last name is Phinesse, which also made me chuckle.

Is it good?
mattnyg05 : 8/14/2018 12:37 pm : link
Not sure if I should buy
I've been trying to get back into this but i suck.
Brown Recluse : 8/14/2018 12:45 pm : link
Running the ball is particularly frustrating, because when the handoff is made and I press the direction I want the RB to go, they stop first or start moving in a different direction.

I wanted to throw my controller lol.
in true madden form my moves were totally unrealistic.
Mighty : 8/14/2018 12:47 pm : link
1. Moved Hernandez to center as i like mobile guards for stretch runs.
2. Traded Eli to some team for 2 young mobile OL one of them had quick dev. both are starters at G.
3. Resigned Hankins to start as the other 3-4 DE
4. signed DRC for one last hoorah at FS.
5. Started Lauletta who has very good numbers for a madden QB. he ended up being in the top 5 votes for league MVP or maybe it was offensive MVP. cant remember.
6. traded some combination of players to get Fb Juzsic (sp??)
7. Barkely with 2k+ rushing yards took home all the awards, league mvp offensive, ROY, best RB, etc. 99 ovr
8. Carter was starting WLB and rush end and led the league in sacks by half a sack.
9. Picked up a couple young corners and WRs that were on other teams practice squads.
10. Went 13-3 and took home the Lombardi.
11. After yr one drafted a good OT so now Flowers is the backup swing tackle.

currently 5-0 in yr 2 with Barkely already near 1k. He is completely unfair in this game. i have to purposely not use him or he would just run wild juking and trucking people.

thats because EA wants to highlight their new one cut system. they pretty much make any other movement next to impossible. the key is NO TURBO, let the cpu handle the first step or two, NO TURBO, then when you see the hole then use the turbo to burst thru the hole. If you use the turbo button at the handoff you will have some incredibly ridiculous slowdowns and get tackled in the backfield.

Thanks! I think thats what my problem was, mostly. It was driving me mad lol

That allowed you to trade the 32nd pick for the 1st. Seems like they cleaned that up.

I was messing around with it the other day but I think I'm going to wait for a few roster updates. It's nitpicky, but I don't like how the only RBs on the roster are Barkley, Stewart, and Gallman.

If it sticks like that, I'll modify the roster (in settings, not in franchise) so that Darkwa's on the team instead of Stewart. That'll probably save me some cap room and I get to pretend the Stewart signing never happened.

In Franchise, I'd likely sign Hankins and DRC. I'll probably also switch to West Coast - Zone Running scheme so that Barkley is a fit for it, though I'm not totally sure whether the consequences for not being a scheme fit are meaningful. I'd then sign the best available agile OL guys.

one quick question
santacruzom : 8/14/2018 1:25 pm : link
Do you play as the Coach, or the Owner?

I've read that when you play as Owner, you get the ability to hire a Scout and choose what positions he can scout for a scouting point discount. As Coach, that discount is random.
Coach

The scheme fit is a huge benefit
Mighty : 8/14/2018 2:33 pm : link
again with their new scheme fit system they try to highlight it. My guys that fit the scheme get an extra 1500-2000 xp points a week from the weekly training. it makes developing guys much quicker and easier.

I usually play as the coach unless i want to move the team to another city.

Love it! What difficulty are you playing on? Finding the CPU much more difficult than in years past.

Ah, so weekly training is really beneficial. I've just been skipping it. I think I need to start my franchise over, haha

Luuuuuuuuuuuuuuukes. good to see u around bro

Right now im playing on all-pro. When i first tried the game it was on all madden and i was getting demolished, mainly because i was having the problem recluse was having running the ball and my first game saquon actually ended the game with like negative 20 yards.

Then i bumped it down to all-pro and have been using that. If i finish this second season undefeated ill bump it back up to all-madden for the playoffs.
wait
santacruzom : 8/14/2018 2:52 pm : link
are you saying you progressed Barkley to a 99 overall rating in one season?

Good to see you too man!

I actually had to bump it down to regular Pro lol! I couldn't run the ball at all! I took off last year so I haven't played Madden in over a year. I think I will be bumping it up back to All Pro for my franchise.

From what I have read on the forums, bumping the run blocking sliders up for both the User and CPU make the running game much more realistic.

yeah weekly training is huuuuuge. it helps in game too. For example since i run the ball a lot and do a lot of outside runs my offense training is "outside zone run" or whatever it is called and that gives my RB +3 acceleration on outside run plays. so a rb like barkely with great acceleration anyways between the +3 from the training and the acceleration boost from the new one cut thing once i see daylight Barkely is shot out of a cannon.

usually i just have to juke or truck 1 safety and its a TD. If the safety is strafing (yes they finally brought this back to madden) you cant juke him so truck him. RBs like Barkely who have speed, acceleration AND power are gonna be beasts.

yes. 1 season. He won a lot of awards that come with XP bonusses. He was offensive player of the week at least like 8 or 9 times. he was offensive rookie of the year, league MVP, best RB.

He is now 99 ovr with 96 spd, 97 accl, 99 agi. and i think his trucking is up to over 90 too. absolute monster. i bench him for the 2nd half of games now because its just too easy to run with him.
Didn't they rate Barkley a 92 in speed?
Knee of Theismann : 8/14/2018 3:23 pm : link
And speed rating can't increase right?

I would hate having to play with Barkley always at a 92 in speed, seems like it makes it less likely for him to hit home runs. He should be like 96 or 97 don't you think?

Maybe in the new versions the speed rating can increase?
Oh my bad just read the post about him increasing to 96 speed
Knee of Theismann : 8/14/2018 3:24 pm : link
.
I just started a Franchise.
SimpleMan : 8/14/2018 3:33 pm : link
First move was signing Richie Icognito to play RG, he is rated 85.

Also, you will probably need to turn your injuries way down. In my first game I had OBJ tear his abdominal, Saquon tear his shoulder, about 3-4 more shoulder tears, and a broken foot, all in the first half of the game, all to starters. Had to start the game over with injuries turned down.

Wow, progression must be quite a bit different from last year's in that case. In Madden 18, just increasing speed one point cost something like 30,000 points. All of the physical attributes were really expensive to upgrade.

yes progression is completely different. You dont spend points on individual attributes anymore. You spend it on scheme fit. So for RBs they were elusive back, receiving back, and power back. So when you have 1 progression poinit you can spend it on one of those 3 areas. what that does is increase enough stats for the player to increase 1 ovr point in that category. So spending 1 progression point in elusive back might give you +1 accel +1 spd +2 elu and bring his overall from 81 to 82. Other positions have different categories that you upgrade.

I didnt see a way to upgrade the stuff like development trait, or clutch or discipline. The players still have those but i dont think you can upgrade it.

Can you spend progression points on any scheme, or only on the scheme your team is currently employing?
First time buying it since about 2011-12

Like it, but it’s just ok to me. Getting into ultimate team next.. heard really good things. Franchise mode ok but not great.
I miss the days
giantsFC : 8/14/2018 10:39 pm : link
Without the training parts bc it’s boring and a waste of time,, having to buy progression, and the lame managing the Stadium expenses. Instead of focusing on making the game better they add crap like that.

Would be cooler if they has actual story lines of players off field...like wife beating, drug arrests, DWI’s, Instagram prostitutes etc.

Then you would have to really work hard lol
This game sucks

its nearly impossible to even run on rookie, makes Madden 18 look like a gem and thats pretty bad
Started a franchise
elisha2014 : 8/15/2018 8:34 am : link
with the Giants and almost threw my controller out the window during the first game because of how terrible they made Eli. Why is Eli rated so low in this game? Cant complete anything, cant run the ball. fuck this.
Yeah, some of the gameplay is a bit irritating
santacruzom : 8/15/2018 11:42 am : link
-more than ever, screen and play action plays might as well be intentional sack plays. 9 times out of 10, the sack animation begins before I'm even able to press the receiver button.

-the default formation subs are bizarre. I often like to browse my playbook by concept, which doesn't indicate who's in the play by Jersey number. Half the time, my 2nd pr even 3rd string back replaces a non-fatigued Barkley. I needed to manually replace the other QB with Barkley in about 10 formations.

-I get that there is justification to believe that Manning is not a great QB. But THIS bad? I swap him out with Lauletta and do much better.
Er
santacruzom : 8/15/2018 11:44 am : link
Other RB.

Also, Herzlich comes in on a ton of plays for seemingly no reason.

As far as my roster moves go, I signed Dez as a free agent and immediately traded him and a CB for a 2nd round pick. Haven't had much luck getting a 1st round pick yet, but I'll likely be able to swap my 1st and 3rd for a dramatic move up later.

Go into the depth chart. THere is now a power back position which is the primary RB in tight/big formations. Put Barkley #1 there and you'll be good

Interesting... I noticed that, but I assumed it was more situational and not formation-based, like the 3rd down back. I'll give that a shot. Thanks!
