Another frustrating game last night and the Rays are a pain in the fucking ass. At least we're not at the shitty Trop.

Gotta get back on track here.

Haven't looked at the forecast - seemed like there was going to be some rain in the area. Not sure if we'll be delayed, but I'm guessing we get this in one way or another.

Looks like Chappy made quick work of them in the 9th though via GameCast. Good shit.

Let's start a new streak!

What's up with Boston, are their players on roids? They are all playing out of their minds?! 10 k from Porcello? Get outta here!

He won the Cy Young like three years ago, it’s really not that surprising. And did you see what he did to the Yankees? Ugh

It's all coming all aces for them.

Tonight 1-1 top 8, one out, they send up Holt to pinch hit and he jacks the first pitch off the facing of the 2nd deck in right for the eventual game winner at Philly.

Jesus.. they're 50 games over .500.

I think they said during the broadcast tonight that the last time a team was on pace to win over 100 games at this point in the year, yet were 10 games out of first place was like... the early 1900's?

Fucking insanity.

I am going to love it so much if this Red Sox team falls short and wastes this regular season.

Take a look at his career stats. His nickname should be ‘Anomaly’.
Like I said earlier
Greg from LI : 8/14/2018 10:13 pm : link
The Dodgers were a few games ahead of the Sawx current pace last year.

Also, Porcello was mediocre his entire career before the out of nowhere Cy season and has been up and down ever since. As much as some people here like to bitch about Tanaka, his stats this year are about the same as Porcello's.

He pitched fantastic tonight. Only one Philly touched 2nd base all night against him and that was on the solo HR he gave up.

I hope they go all out to get the single season wins record, similar to how Cleveland went all out last year for the winning streak record. They set their sights on the wrong goal and hopefully the Sux suffer a similar fate.

As far as your other point, I think this is what you might be referring to?

30+ Games Over .500 at 118-Game Mark AND
10+ Games Out of First Place:

2018 Yankees 74-44, 10 GB of Red Sox
1906 Pirates 76-42, 13 GB of Cubs
1906 Giants 74-43-1, 15 GB of Cubs

Crazy stuff there but Yanks just have to keep focused on their business and playing well. They can't get down about how good the Sux are going.
J.A. Happ has a certain resemblance to
Del Shofner : 8/14/2018 10:33 pm : link
a younger Woody Harrelson.

Yup - that was it.

112 years... insane.

Hoping for the same thing, though. That the Sox just burn themselves out trying to set records or whatever. They can have the division at this point. I want nothing more than an ALDS against them.

Monday’s game is still bothering me. That shit met team looked like world beaters then 24 hours later they lose to the worst team in baseball.
Shades of 2013 for Boston...
Dunedin81 : 8/15/2018 8:58 am : link
pop-up seasons for kids who weren't especially heralded (Brian Johnson, for one), half of everyone is having a career year, no major injuries outside of Pedroia, offensive impact from non-entities like Mitch Moreland and Steve Pearce...

Hopefully it'll all come crashing down in the postseason, but this team had a horseshoe enema before the season.

arcarsenal : 8/15/2018 9:45 am : link
That 2013 Red Sox team felt like one of the shittiest World Series winners ever. So many scrubs or guys at the end of their careers, etc.

If the Red Sox win 100+ this year - which it appears they will - it will be the first time since 1946.
Don't even get me started on that team
Greg from LI : 8/15/2018 9:53 am : link
The late great Rob in NYC and I actually looked it up once - about 2/3 of that roster had the best season of their career that year. Biggest fluke champion ever. Last place the year before AND the year after.

This team isn't that. It's a really good team, but it shouldn't be THIS good with such a top-heavy lineup, and Betts is a really good player but he's having a Barry Bonds season, which is ridiculous.
Nah they shouldn't be this good...
Dunedin81 : 8/15/2018 1:15 pm : link
but they've also been remarkably healthy this year. Dings here and there, but their "big 3" starters have made a minimum of 23 starts and other than Bogaerts who is at 99, Moreland who platoons, and Sandy Leon, all of their starting offensive players have played 100+ games.
that too
Greg from LI : 8/15/2018 1:41 pm : link
Yanks were 64-35 when Judge hit the DL. They're 21-19 since.

That can't be right. Judge hasn't been out that long. You sure you didn't mean 11-9?
yes, 11-9

No problem.

It wouldn't surprise me if they did go 21-19 if he was out that long. They miss him big time,IMO. Stanton is doing his part and Didi is pitching in lately too but Judge is so important to the whole lineup and him being out affects more than just his one spot.
His OBP is .398
Greg from LI : 8/15/2018 1:57 pm : link
#2 on the team is Hicks at .365, #3 is Stanton at .348, and then there's a dropoff to everyone else. They just aren't getting many baserunners lately.
Yeah no injuries in Boston
Possum : 8/15/2018 7:07 pm : link
Except Pedroia out for year, Betts Bogaerts and Devers missed 20 games each, Rodriquez out 6 weeks and counting Pomeranz out 2/3rds of season, Wright out virtually all season, Vasquez out 2 months and counting so keep crying about injuries
