NGT: Paxton Lynch demoted to 3rd string.

SFGFNCGiantsFan : 8/14/2018 7:52 pm
I'm starting to think this dude might be a bust.

It's a damn shame Jerrah wasn't able to trade up & get him. He wanted him badly apparently.

He’s a system QB
BigBlueDownTheShore : 8/14/2018 8:00 pm : link
Came from a pure spread with one read. He was either going to get it or fail.
But you always draft a good QB available in the first round!
Mike from SI : 8/14/2018 8:00 pm : link
So what they did was right.

One of the few busts I got right so far.

We all got hits and misses. I was 100% convinced that Matt Ryan was going to suck. I was also 100% positive that Johnny Football was going to be a star.

I thought Laquon Treadwell was going to be the next Alshon Jeffery... what can you do.

Maybe he'll turn it around in the magical year 3. :)

If that is true, you are a really bad QB evaluator. I doubt Sy'56 asks you to help.

Johnny Football....geez
I think my 2 most adamant

Busts while they were in college were Geno Smith and Paxton Lynch.
I thought Wentz was gonna bust
Greg from LI : 8/14/2018 8:34 pm : link
His numbers in the NFL are better than they were at fucking North Dakota State. Go figure.

How does paxton lynch make these sentences work?

LOL. I was really off about Johnny Football. No excuses there.

But, and I've said this before, I remember watching the 2000 Orange Bowl between Alabama & Michigan & saying to a buddy, 'This Tom Brady guy is good.' Now, did I think he would probably become the GOAT in terms of QB? Hell no. But I would have predicted he would be a good NFL QB.
Yeah, but you still have to take him over the best player in the draft

Talent is always irrelevant.
Let's
AcidTest : 8/14/2018 8:48 pm : link
remember that Kelly was "Mr. Irrelevant" in last year's draft. He almost went undrafted because of character and injury concerns. He has talent.
Elway
AcidTest : 8/14/2018 8:49 pm : link
drafted Lynch and Tebow.
You guys made me think about my predictions
GoDeep13 : 8/14/2018 8:50 pm : link
I’ve done pretty well on my personal player Evals. The feather in my cap last year being Kareem Hunt. I also nailed Rob Havenstein (Rams RT)a couple drafts back.

As far as my blown predictions. I though Jameis Winston would be an MVP caliber QB by now. I really liked his game coming out of FSU. Thought Damontre Moore could be a very good player for us. The old Sean Weatherspoon vs Rolando McClain debate I was on team Weatherspoon.

After the fact, sure. But leading up to the draft there were supposedly many teams that liked him. He was very hyped up at the time
A lot of people loved Jameis Winston's talent
Ten Ton Hammer : 8/14/2018 8:53 pm : link
If he had better than a 10-cent head he'd be a star.

That was a true test of who actually watched Johnny Manziel and who scouted him through ESPN highlights. That was a clear case of a QB getting bailed out by a 6'5 freak on mad scrambles and jump balls.

So the Giants should’ve drafted Josh Allen? Fuck. Well, this season is a bust.

Thanks Gettleman.
Yeah I never understood that one
UConn4523 : 8/14/2018 9:01 pm : link
Manziel did a fantastic job keeping plays alive in college. Was also able to throw on the run in college. But I lost count with how many times Evans bailed him out.
Not sure he’s a “star”
BigBlueShock : 8/14/2018 9:03 pm : link
But for me the one that stands out is Matt Stafford. I realize he was obviously a top pick by the time he entered the draft, but the first time I seen him play early in his career, I couldn’t believe how effortlessly he threw the ball. At the time, I’d never heard of him but after that game I followed him closely to see how he developed. Turned out pretty good!

My biggest miss was probably RG3. I thought we’d be screwed for a decade going against him

I think if he had stayed healthy, he might have made good on that.

He's been a disaster from day 1. Can't believe he was once even mentioned in the same breath as Wentz and Goff
Robert Gallery

will always be my biggest miss. I wanted Eli badly, but I thought Gallery was going to be unreal. I don’t think I was alone in that feeling.

for Jaylon Smith when Denver out bid them for Lynch.

Like they say, sometimes the best deals are the ones you don't make.

P.S. Jaylon Smith is going to be a star this year.

It’s basically across the board in the NFL. Tons of misses for most franchises, even the Pats.

Our friend can be a bit stubborn at times.
He must have played
Coach Red Beaulieu : 8/15/2018 9:32 am : link
Like Davis Webb.
Lynch may not be an NFL QB,
Section331 : 8/15/2018 10:06 am : link
but he hasn't been done any favors by Denver. If you're going to trade up to draft a spread QB, at the very least, try and put him in a position to succeed. Incorporate some spread concepts to get him comfortable and then introduce more complex concepts.
Bill Walsh's tome, Finding the Winning Edge
David B. : 8/15/2018 12:45 pm : link
Says even the teams who are the VERY BEST at identifying and drafting talent still consistently miss at a 20% rate.

This isn't true: "refused to admit that he was wrong."

On my Coleman callout thread, the I recognized the list of posters as Treadwell guys. I thought you were one. While searching for it I found the gem by Arc that not only did he love Treadwell but he also loved Coleman.

That ended my search so I could run back to mock Arc.

Would you like an apology for lumping you in with the others? Did that hurt your feelings?

OK. I was wrong for implying you liked Treadwell. Is that the admission you were looking for?

I didn't refuse to admit I was wrong about you. I just ignored you as I was having more fun getting abuse from FMIC.
Sadly..
FatMan in Charlotte : 8/15/2018 2:37 pm : link
I don't like giving you abuse!

I want you to just stick to solid football posts instead of going down rabbit holes and hyping up guys.

KWALL2 : 8/15/2018 4:22 pm : link
And dammit it isn't over for Corey Coleman!

But maybe I will pull back on the hyperbole. Should I delete my "Albert Wilson is going to the probowl" post? Its a beauty.

He probably was overdrafted
Coach Red Beaulieu : 8/15/2018 8:39 pm : link
Because he had a cool name. If his name was Glenn Spunkmyer, he probably would have been undrafted.
