Ronald Acuña Jr. is the youngest player in the live ball era to homer in 5 straight. Since the all star break Acuña Jr. is batting .344/.410/767 with a 1.177 OPS.
He is making a late run to challenge Juan Soto for the rookie of the year award.
Living in NC, I get the Braves & that dude is a beast. A lot of people thought Atlanta was a year away, but they're definitely a contender to win a wide open NL.

I thought they were a year away also. Nobody expected these fluke seasons from Markakis, Anibal Sanchez, and Charlie Culberson. I knew the rotation would be good down the stretch but Foltynewicz has been much better than I expected. Even their GM said prior to the season that this was an evaluation year. It's been a fun season after 4 years of horrific performances.
I root for the Cubs because my brother in law is a freaking die-hard. He writes weekly reports to myself & other family members about the team & figuratively lives & dies with them. But he's not a big fan of this 2018 team & thinks that, while they currently have the best record in the NL, they're not going to go far if they make the playoffs.
Gun to my head, I think Braves win NL East, Cubs win Central, & Dodgers win NL West. Brewers & Phillies are WC.
Pitcher Patrick Weigel returned from TJ surgery to pitch in his first game last night. Weigel was set to make his MLB debut last season before Lucas Sims, Max Fried, and Luiz Gohara but then he suffered the injury. No reports on how his velocity looked last night. Weigel touched 100 before the injury.
This is the best race for ROY in both leagues in a long time. Â

6 in his last 5 games.
Insane.
