Ramsey mentioned that Josh played Iowa State and threw five interceptions. Wyoming didnt play Iowa State, rather they played Iowa, and he had two interceptions (six for the season).
Ramsey also insulted Joe Flacco and Ben Roethlisberger.
So his words aren't just coming from scrub, no matter if you agree with them or not. Now the question whether he can back up his words and not allow those "bad" QBs to light him up when he plays some of them.
Building his brand. It worked out financially for Josh Norman. That's what the NFL is sadly all about nowadays.
Coincidentally the NFL itself is the biggest offender. I don’t blame players one bit for taking advantage of their usually very short careers.
I agree. I don't blame them at all. All this publicity has probably doubled or tripled his social media following. He's building his brand and will probably cash in on a larger contract down the road as well since he'll be more of a household name. You can't tell me that Josh Norman gets the contract he got from that idiot Snyder without OBJ making him famous.
some of the best CBs to play the game have been trash talkers, who were confident to the point of being arrogant. Not everyone is going to be Darrel Green type or Rod Woodson type. Many will be Prime Time, Revis, Norman, etc. type. And really, does it really matter in the end? They play a violent game for a living for our entertainment. All of these talks about how they should keep their mouth shut or compare them to other positions or even professions are missing the point.

Huh? It's not like they aren't paid life-changing money and it's not like they don't know the physical costs of playing the game long before reaching the NFL.

Being a good CB doesn't automatically make him a great QB evaluator. He hasn't even played against all of these QBs yet so he hasn't even watched film on all of them. He's going by the little bit he's seen them each play on TV, just like anyone else.
I love how he says Foles is "good enough to win the super bowl", but then trash talks Eli and Ben, who have 4 super bowl victories between them. I don't think this guy is putting a ton of thought into his analyses.

What does either have to do with what I said?
And just because you know the risks associated with what you do doesn’t mean that they are OK. I don’t know why fans have this attitude towards it. It’s a very dangerous career that they are paid well for, but if they are also making more due to their own branding who are we to say that’s wrong?
Also, Ramsey is on a lucrative rookie deal but it’s hardly anything close to his worth.

Yes, it does make it ok...you accept risks for great personal benefit. As long as it is a capable adult assessing risk vs benefit it absolutely is ok. It is a personal choice that many of us would also make if we had the skill and ability to do so. I have nothing against anything else you said, I don't think it's wrong for them to make more from their own branding. That is as American as apple pie. What I was responding to is your comment that the NFL is the biggest offender. Offender at what? Having a great business model and product? Making a lot of new millionaires? I don't get your comment re: the NFL, which is why I opened with "Huh?".
In terms of Ramsey, I am a Jalen Ramsey fan. I am a FSU fan, so I follow the great players from the university, and Ramsey is one of the most talented players to go to the NFL in quite awhile. From a football standpoint, I love watching him play, he is a dominant corner. And again, I have no problem whatsoever with him doing whatever he thinks is best to increase his profile and make himself a more marketable superstar. With all that said, I'm wondering if that is the motivation for him or if he is just an asshole. Further, I don't think that portraying yourself as an asshole and shitting on your colleagues is the only or best way to build your brand, and I don't think it's very professional, either. To each their own, I guess.
"Odell makes him" is especially funny because Eli Manning has 2 Super Bowl MVP's to his name and Odell Beckham had nothing to do with either one.
As good as Ramsey is on the field, he's equally annoying off it.
Yeah, not sure what he was thinking there. Or the Big Ben one either. I mean the guy is a multi SB winning QB and is "decent"?
My favorite though is saying Cousins is a winner. Did I miss something? What exactly has Cousins won?
Positive about Lamar Jackson - the guy who has proven zilch in the NFL, but says Super Bowl winner Joe Flacco "sucks"
The Ravens offense has been putrid recently and it's true that Flacco hasn't been good. But it's almost like Ramsey doesn't know the NFL existed before he was drafted. It doesn't seem like he has any grasp of things that have happened in this league in the past 10 years prior to him being in it.
Beckham gets called a headache while this dipshit is spouting off every other day about something new.
My favorite though is saying Cousins is a winner. Did I miss something? What exactly has Cousins won?
He made 50 mill off Dan Snyder and escaped with his career intact. In other words, he's won at life. Not so much at football. But 50 mill so far and another 80 guaranteed is a nice consolation.
the NFL doesn’t have a good product. I realize that’s partly my opinion but they’ve been getting worse and worse as they continue to try and expand and grow. The rules are lopsided, games are poorly officiated, penalties and fines have no consistency, and I won’t even get into their off the field issues.
The NFL sold out a long time ago, which is where my comment stems from. They forego integrity to suck a dollar out of any and everything. THAT is what I mean by the NFL being the biggest offender.

So you say the NFL doesn't have a good product but it obviously offer you enough entertainment utility to continue to follow the team and participate, so obviously even for you that isn't correct, otherwise you wouldn't be a consumer of the product.
You can have all those opinions, I don't agree with you that the NFL "sold out", I don't even know what that means for a business that is for-profit. Quite literally, their goal is to sell-out...sell-out games, merch, and so forth. Making a profit is why you conduct business. Further, the NFL has an immense and robust charitable/philanthropic impact, so I don't agree with you that they are 100% about sucking out a dollar and have no integrity. In terms of refereeing, they are way better than their competitor sports and they actually do a pretty good job now that there is replay. All of that is in the eye of the beholder, and no referee is going to be mistake-free, and mistakes are magnified. But you probably remember the catastrophe of the replacement-refs, and that is what bad officiating looks like. Or the NBA ref gambling scandal...that is even worse.
I don't agree with the rule changes, but obviously they are trying to protect the athletes and they know the rule-changes are unpopular among their consumers but have continued to implement them anyway...it stands to reason that perhaps your opinion of their lack of integrity may be a little misguided. I don't expect them to be a paragon of virtue, they are an organization that has a collection of member-organizations whose intention is to make a lot of money, which they are very successful at. But I think you might consider that the truth is somewhere inbetween. If you stop expecting perfection and that everything is supposed to happen the way you think is ideal in hindsight, you might see that they are probably doing the best they can to offer a good product and be good corporate citizens and protect their athletes. Again, I don't worship at the NFL altar but neither do I hold disdain for them. I am a mostly happy consumer of their product as I greatly look forward to each season and each game, although I do also disagree with some of the stances they have taken and decisions made.

Obviously the game fixing scandal in the NBA was worse than any officiating problems in the NFL, but if you truly believe that NFL officiating is better, let alone "way better", than other sports, you really don't understand what is and isn't good officiating.

Pretty level headed analysis. Should be a coach one day.
don’t even know where to start but I’ll give it a shot. I follow the NFL but I don’t support it financially in any way other than giving it my attention to the Giants. I don’t watch much football outside of Giants games because the product is pathetic and the reasons are too numerous to name. I haven’t gone to an NFL game in almost 20 years and I haven’t purchased a single piece of memorabilia in 15 years.
The NFL sold out a long time ago but a recent example is their business relationship with the military and not being able to navigate the kneeling waters. They sold out to cater to fantasy football by skewing rules so far in favor of the offense that giving defenses the ability to use 12 players wouldn’t even it out.
Trey sold out by covering up concussion research and trying to ruin a mans career because they didn’t want to face the realities of the game being borderline barbaric, and having to invest in player safety.
If you are happy with the direction of the NFL, good for you. I’m not, and this I don’t support them anymore than I have to (Giants games). So when guys like Ramsay use their fame to make more money off the NFL I say good for them. The NFL doesn’t care about Jalen Ramsey, he should do what’s best for him even if we all mock him for it.

That's your opinion. The NBA is god awful at officiating. MLB maybe has a case, but the arbitrary calling of balls and strikes, which are wildly inconsistent from ump to ump and even the same ump in the same game...it has such a major impact on the game I don't see how they can be considered better than NFL referees.
I would also submit that the NFL game is by far the most difficult sport to referee, with more rules and annual rule changes, more penalties, and more players to officiate than any other major sport. I don't really follow hockey so maybe their officials are better. I think they have it much easier, but sure, they could be better. But the biggest criticism in the past several years in the NFL comes from people who don't actually understand the rules, and "doesn't know what a catch is anymore." Those people are the loudest, most obnoxious collection of doofuses, who are constantly bashing the officiating when they are actually clueless because they can't understand a rule that actually is pretty easy to understand. You have those guys, and then you have those that just don't like or agree with the catch rule. But by far, the NFL officials have been very consistent with applying the rule correctly.
Are there missed PI's and PI's that shouldn't have been thrown? Yes, but that is one of the more difficult calls to make in realtime and we have the benefit of multiple TV angles and replay, and they do not, and they still get it right more than they get it wrong.
the concussion cover up happened. Ther deal with the military happened. Their changing of the league rules to promote fantasy sports happened.
Thinking the NFLs quality sucks is my opinion, but it’s also shared by many. Commercials, poor officiating, the botching of every PR instance - the list goes on and on. And I never said the NBA had good officiating, I don’t like the NBA either but this is a football thread.

But if you think all that you don't have to support them. The Giants games are the NFL product. You are a consumer, and therefore you agree that they have a good product as you are watching that product. If you didn't like the product you wouldn't watch.
As for concussion research, I hope your opinion isn't totally based on Will Smith's movie. And even so, and I don't want to litigate this issue on here, but the board that was created to study brain injury by the NFL that refuted Omalu's research was created pre-Goodell, that was Tagliabue. Goodell has put emphasis on superior helmet/equipment research to greater protect the players, he has changed the rules to protect the players, he has increased the money for health benefits of former players. A ton has happened since Goodell took over on this issue to make the game safer and to help those that came before. You can't say the NFL has turned a blind eye during Goodell's tenure, which began in late '06, because he has done a great deal and has made it a huge point of emphasis for the NFL.
I find it strange that on one hand you criticize the NFL for handling of player safety yet you also criticize them for the rule changes that have made the game more skewed to offense, which have been done in the name of...player safety. None of that had anything to do with fantasy football, that's just not a feasible argument. Fantasy football doesn't care that there is more offense. FF was widely popular before the rule changes and remains so, and if it were to change to a defensive dominated game, FF will STILL be very popular. But again, you're saying you don't like their handling of player safety, but are criticizing their rule changes for increased player safety. I agree with you...I'd rather we have the big hits of yesteryear, big hits were awesome and did add to the entertainment of the game. We get less of them now but the players are more protected by the rules.
As far as the military...do you also criticize all the other major sports who do the exact same thing? Sports are an American past-time...the U.S. military is a great source of pride for most Americans, and represent sacrifice and service to our country to most people. Every major sport integrates some military appreciation into their opening game ceremonies and sometimes in-game. I don't agree or disagree with it. Apparently you don't think it's a good thing. I think the major sports know if they did away with their partnerships it would be an extremely unpopular decision with their consumers, but I digress.
The anthem controversy I agree, they haven't navigated it well. But it doesn't really impact my enjoyment of the game, I just want to stop hearing about it and wish every media outlet wouldn't remind me every damn game which guys were kneeling, which guys were raising a fist, and so on and so forth.
RE: RE: I love when these guys quote the Bible non-stop Â
why do you automatically assume that everyone does things and also enjoys every minute of it?
I listen to some crappy, catchy music, there’s countless bad movies that I’ll rewatch, and countless over life examples. What makes he NFL any different? It’s a mildly entertaining league that has lost my viewership (used to be for 8-10 hours on sundays) to almost exclusively Giants games, which I DVR and start after 30 minutes so I can fast forward.
The NFL has almost completely lost me.
If you think the NFL changed it’s rules for player safety and not for a more “exciting” higher scoring game, then I have a bridge to sell you. No doubt they are making concussion based changes now but the favored offense has been happening for over a decade now.
I don’t blame any league for getting in bed with the military. However, the NFL is in so deep that they can’t wven get kneeling right, which every other league has done an infinitely better job at handling.
We can go back and forth on this all day. You like the NFL and I’m hanging on by a thread, it doesn’t matter.
Hmmmmm....are we sure? What's the buzz around the Midwest gay club scene?
Not a purveyor. Rodgers however continues in that world, but don't mention it as the homophobes around here lose their mind, as if being a gay QB in the NFL means anything in 2018.

Allen 'He's trash'
Mayfield Gets how he was top pick
Jackson 'He's gonna do a good job'
Flacco 'He sucks'
Rodgers Doesn't suck
Brady Doesn't suck
Taylor Underrated
Mariota Good game manager
Garoppolo 'Guess' he's good
Watson Will be an MVP
Wentz Will be an MVP
Goff 'Average to above average'
Prescott 'He's okay'
Cousins 'He's a winner'
Wilson 'Good'
Roethlisberger 'Decent at best'
Manning Odell makes him
Bortles 'Blake do what he gotta do'
Foles Good enough to win SB
Brees 'Really good'
Luck 'Don't think he's good'
Stafford 'He's straight'
Tannehill Haven't heard good things
Ryan 'Overrated'
Pretty level headed analysis. Should be a coach one day.

Eli Manning says “no comment” when asked about Jalen Ramsey’s criticism. Then, under his breath, Manning added “Who?” and smiled.
I think Eli has a much, much sharper (and darker) sense of humor than most people realize.

Obviously the game fixing scandal in the NBA was worse than any officiating problems in the NFL, but if you truly believe that NFL officiating is better, let alone "way better", than other sports, you really don't understand what is and isn't good officiating.

People are easily fooled by apperances.
Thinking the NFLs quality sucks is my opinion, but it’s also shared by many. Commercials, poor officiating, the botching of every PR instance - the list goes on and on. And I never said the NBA had good officiating, I don’t like the NBA either but this is a football thread.
Would the theme have something to do with Lamar Jackson, Tyrod Taylor, Watson, Prescott and Wilson?
You say that as though there's some tension between being really religious, and being petty and malicious!

Don't forget self-righteous!

Stafford 'He's straight'
Hmmmmm....are we sure? What's the buzz around the Midwest gay club scene?
Not a purveyor. Rodgers however continues in that world, but don't mention it as the homophobes around here lose their mind, as if being a gay QB in the NFL means anything in 2018.

I don't see people losing their minds. You're the one who has brought up this "rumor" several times as if it means anything.
