I listen to some crappy, catchy music, there’s countless bad movies that I’ll rewatch, and countless over life examples. What makes he NFL any different? It’s a mildly entertaining league that has lost my viewership (used to be for 8-10 hours on sundays) to almost exclusively Giants games, which I DVR and start after 30 minutes so I can fast forward.

If you think the NFL changed it’s rules for player safety and not for a more “exciting” higher scoring game, then I have a bridge to sell you. No doubt they are making concussion based changes now but the favored offense has been happening for over a decade now.
I don’t blame any league for getting in bed with the military. However, the NFL is in so deep that they can’t wven get kneeling right, which every other league has done an infinitely better job at handling.

I think I was referencing the rules regarding the strike zone to protect QBs, the defenseless receiver rules, the leading with the helmet rules, the illegal contact with the crown of the helmet rules, forcible blows to the head rules, clipping at the line of scrimmage, horse collar tackles, chop blocks, crack back blocks, moving the kick off line up, etc. Defensive holding has always been a rule, they just decided to enforce it correctly, but I think that changed back in '96...I certainly think some of the changes were made to give the offense a more balanced and competitive field, because honestly the rules strongly favored the defense in years past and one might say that it is more fair that a defensive player can't hold a receiver running a route past 5 yards. Do I think the NFL wanted more balance and probably more scoring and offense? Yes, but I don't believe that those rules had fantasy football related to it at all...and the strong majority of the recent rule changes were made for player safety. There's a pretty big list of those, and it should be noted some of those rules were made to protect defensive players as well.
