but I felt like they even took his ad spots off the air immediately following the news, but recently they've been back (at least the Smithtown Nissan one, which I've heard a lot the past few days). I'm not sure if there's any correlation.

No reason to bring him back. He's not particularly good anyway and it's just opening them up for criticism.

I might be in the minority, but I like Roberts. He's pretty knowledge & doesn't take himself too seriously.

this morning I was thinking about what the status of Beningo. I think he was going to retire in a year or two. Just sounded like it listening to him. I think after this, he will just retire quietly.

Yeah I agree, he can get lost in mets bullshit for hours and having Joe there makes it even worse. If he had a competent co-host he’d be able to stay on track and open up his comfort zone a bit. I’d love it to be Kim Jones.

I'm a Yankee and Giant fan but don't mind hearing about the other teams. It's the stupid meaningless things about them that bug me. Like opening a show talking about the Mets pen or Vargas when the Yanks are playing the Sox for example.

If the Mets or Jets are doing something great and should be talked about, no problem. It's just the meaningless shit that's important to him really should be saved for a down time and not be a big part of the show or opened with. Thankfully he doesn't do it all the time but he does do it more than I'd like.

Inevitably it'll get calls and turn into an hour over stuff that has no business getting that much air time, especially over other important things going on in sports. A good cohost might just be the answer to that.

In the past I think he and Kim Jones have done slots together when Bro was on vacation and they meshed very well, both substantive and informed, and don't try too much to BS when they don't have an informed position or background to the caller's question.

He also strikes me, as much as one can tell from a radio voice, cadence, selection as to what he verbalizes or chooses not to, pretty genuine good guy, fwiw.

Evan would probably make a good play by play guy if he hasn't done it already.
