Guy stinks. Even the outs were super loud right from the get go. Gray was in a mop-up role and gave us 1-run (so far) and some innings. Not the villain tonight, gents.
Still very much struggling with bad to mediocre teams Â
But again no offense. 1 run off a bunch of garbage relievers how many times has this rays bullpen shut down this offense it’s happen like 8 times this year can the Yankee offense ever comeback and win a game?

I have no explanation for Boones incessant use of proven losers Like Shreve, Gray, Cessa and Robinson. He has or had alternatives. Sheffield, Carrol, Mckinney Frazier (Before injuriy) and even Mcbroom. Using the excuse "at least Cessa has some experience" is lame, his experience is failure.
If you want to criticize Boone there's plenty of things you can question and debate. The 25 man roster is not one of them. Those decisions are made above his head. I'm sure he gets to have his say and opinion but the final call is not his.
It might not be worth rushing Sheffield's development for the needs of the big league club that's almost certainly going to make the 'offs. (But yeah I wanna see him from a fan's perspective.)
Sheffield had a rough game last night. He only lasted 1 and two thirds of an inning, walking 5(!) and giving up 4 hits, and let up 4 runs. He also threw 72 pitches- with 41 strikes- while not getting out of the second inning.
Ouch.
If he had just been able to step it up, he probably would have been called up to replace Cessa, IMO. Unfortunately, he's now going to have to show better command before he gets the call. Not throwing strikes- or failing to throw quality pitches outside the zone- isn't going to get you to NY.
What is really sad is that Happ and Lynn have been upgrades as SP, and Tanaka has generally been solid in his lat 14 starts- but Sevy has taken a BIG step back- and none of the 5th SP fill-ins have been worth anything.
I think when CC comes back, it might be worth the Yanks time to let Sevy sit for 10 days for mental and physical rest. They won't win the AL East, but they will be a Wild Card team. Better to go into the playoffs looking to be as healthy as possible as opposed to limping in injured and struggling- and going home early.
Yeah. Stupid on top of being a headcase of a pitcher.

They never freaking lose.
Just checked back in on that game and it's still 3-3 bottom 6, Phils threatening.
Weird. I flipped for a second and it showed 4-3 Boston. My guess is a run scored and Philly challenged and won?

Now it’s 4-3 Phils.

I don't know but figured it must've been something like that.
Phils up 4-3 now after six.

Yep - that right there is the reason we won't win the ALE which is a fucking bummer.
The Judge updates aren't sounding promising either. He might not even be 100% when he does return? Ugh...

Yup. Just started a rehab assignment, so let's hope late August/early Sept. he's ready to roll.
