I know I tend to slouch in the office and I'm contemplating getting a balance ball or ergonomic stool to replace my desk chair. Does it work? Anybody go this route and have any advice? Ball vs stool?
and we all have sit/stand desks. A few of us have a treadmill that fits under the desk so they can walk on it while they work.
I recently purchased a desk cycle that is like a stool that allows me to pedal while i work. I hate standing and i'm too tall to stand and type so this worked for me.
As for your exercise ball i think it's a great idea. Nobody has one here ,but my son had one in his 5th grade class. It makes a big difference if you like to fidget. I've heard that you shouldn't sit on one the whole day, not sure if that's true or not.
and my posture goes to sh*t. I've used the ball and it helped a lot. Last week I was sitting on it and the freaking thing popped! I went right to the floor. So now I'm in a chair again, and my posture is sh*t.
a lot of the slouch is upper body/shoulders. Remind yourself periodically to pin your scapula (shoulder blades) back and keep your chest high. Dont lean forward on your desk using your elbows.
and I liked it. You might want to try an upright armless chair as a middle ground between your current chair and a stool. It will give you some idea of the feeling and there are probably a bunch of them in the office already.
I have an adjustable desk at home so I work two days a week standing. I think I like that better than chair or stool.

She swears by it. Hasn't had a chair in years. I like to lean back and put my feet up I am chair guy for sure.
