1. Brett Gardner (L) LF
2. Giancarlo Stanton (R) DH
3. Aaron Hicks (S) CF
4. Didi Gregorius (L) SS
5. Miguel Andujar (R) 3B
6. Gleyber Torres (R) 2B
7. Greg Bird (L) 1B
8. Neil Walker (S) RF
9. Austin Romine (R) C
Lance Lynn: 119.0 IP, 8-8, 4.46
Lynn has a 0.54 ERA as a Yankee so far and it appears he and Happ are our most reliable starters at this point.
Enough with this fucking horse shit, let's beat up on a bad team here.
Stroman is on the hill for TOR but their lineup isn't up yet.
Stroman is 4-8 with a 5.03 ERA in 96.2 IP. No excuses not to hit this guy around.
Let's go, Yanks!
I don't know that he's "due" - he just had a 7 inning, 2 hit performance 2 starts ago - but got absolutely lit up the start before that. His last one was okay.
Been a mixed bag over the last couple weeks. But he's not having a good year and we need to put some runs on the board.
Would be par for the course.....
I agree- but am a little concerned that the slumping guys are lumped together- Bird and Torres. Will that come back to bite them late in the game again?
Probably good that Greg called me out on that.

FWIW, this is actually a fairly sensible lineup...

Hopefully not. It's tough because between the injuries and struggling hitters, it's almost hard not to have that happen.
I think Boone (or the computers) are just trying to get as much production out of the top half as possible and hope the pieces come together somehow near the bottom.
If we're going to put runs on the board, I think that Stanton-Hicks-Didi-Miggy foursome is going to have to be the catalyst.
Fingers crossed for some offense, man.. it's been tough sledding lately.
1-0
yeah.
3 runs....looks like an early evening and stay with the Giants until the suck out.
4-1
Get better ABs and good things happen.
5-4
5-5
Absolutely ridiculous how many Yankee games have been rained out or delayed. It has to be a record.
6-5
Another idea- suppose the Yanks sign Machado to play 3B.
Would anyone be willing to trade Stanton to the Dodgers (Dodgers need OF, have prospects, and Stanton DOES wants to play there) and make Andujar the DH?

can hit a baseball. Pay for someone to teach him to play a serviceable 3B in the offseason and we don't have to grossly overpay for Machado.

Who would the Dodgers give up to take on that much salary? I don't see the Dodgers making that move even if we did. I also don't know what they could offer us that would make up for the potentially huge hole Stanton would leave. That would be different if Frazier could stay healthy.
7-5

The Dodgers are doing the same thing as the Yanks- spending a year below the luxury tax line to reduce their tax rate. They also will shed approximately $70-80M after this season, so even if they were to add Stanton, they would be well below the luxury tax line.
IMO, the Yanks need to add some more SP prospects and maybe an upper level C prospect, as I think the possibility exists that Sanchez might not be the C of the future. The Dodgers have both in spades. In theory, the Yanks could even ask for Cody Bellinger as a 1B as part of the return.
The reason I float a Stanton trade proposal is because he really has not been good in LF, and it looks to me like the Yanks have guys who might be better DHs (Andujar, Sanchez). Stanton did make clear last winter that his goal was to get to the Dodgers. But the Dodgers couldn't add his salary this winter without going over the luxury tax line.
What does the board think?

If we can get real value for him, unlike the Marlins, then why not? The only untouchable Yankees at the moment are Judge, Torres, Severino and Sanchez (who I think will rebound).
I'm not trading Stanton. He is just getting comfortable in NY and it shows. He's ripping the cover off the ball.
I'm also not getting rid of Andujar. He is the batter we thought Bird would be.
Andujar is two years short of the normal peak five years as a hitter.
I agree that another hitter to cover for any one of the three mentioned (Sanchez, Bird and Frazier) is desirable. I agree that someone is going to have to move positions.
I agree with rich that the one thing we need this winter is another back up to Sanchez...whose size as he ages may not fit that position as it is...even if this years hitting was an abberation
When was the last time you saw a game called? They'll wait two hours.

Sanchez, despite is great arm should be moved to first. In hindsight, probably should’ve been done a while ago but, oh well. Bird has been on scholarship for a while now and, has shown nothing but flashes. He’s not a Nick Johnson situation, he is what he is at this point.
That being said, if you move Sanchez to first, who is the starting catcher? The internal options are, frankly, dog shit at the moment. Do they use the chips the have to trade for a one? That would be a mistake IMO as, any chips they have should go towards fortifying the rotation in the offseason.

Toronto’s going nowhere this season. Dragging this out is ridiculous.

Just now. Yankees win. :P
A miracle. I cannot remember a game being called recently.
Giants win and look good doing so.
Giants win and look good doing so.
Not worked up over it, but please try and keep in mind that there might be Giant fans deliberately avoiding the Forum and just refresh the Yanks thread to avoid seeing the score. I know its only preseason, but I live out of market and was looking to see the game on replay tmrw without knowing anything about the outcome.
Again, no big, but I couldnt see it until it aired at 9 am tmrw on NFL network.

Not good.
Really ready for this awful summer to end. It's either severe humidity (everyday) or severe thunderstorms. There is no middle ground. Ready for it to be over.

I’m sorry but
1) There’s a thousand different outlets who could’ve and probably already had ruined the meaningless pre-season game for you.
2) You’re on a Giant fans message board. Expecting fans to not post about the game, even in a thread that isn’t about football, is ridiculous.
3) Again, meaningless 2nd pre-season game. Get over it and watch the replay on NFL Network.
