1/ Remember how Pat Shurmur said guys can make the team with strong special teams play? Well, welcome back to the team, Kerry Wynn. He had 3 STs tackles in the first half. Oh and he played pretty well on defense too.

2/ I’m concerned about Alec Ogletee in coverage. He had some issues last week and again this week. He’s also had some issues in practice. I have to think though that Bettcher has seen this and has a plan to address it.

4/ I pleaded with you to not get too worked up over Davis Webb’s struggles last week. I think we also need to taper expectations after tonight. Like I said, there needs to be a trend. I’m optimistic he'll trend upward.

7/ On a first glance, not a solid showing tonight by the right side of the first-team offensive line. Flowers had a better week last week, I thought, but then again, he only played a handful of snaps.

8/ With all due respect to Jonathan Stewart, Wayne Gallman NEEDS to be the No. 2 back. Other than the one head-scratcher run inside the red zone where he tried to cut it back, Gallman just looks better running the ball

11/ ICYMI my earlier tweet, the Giants running backs have 4 rushing touchdowns in two preseason games. Last year they only had 6 rushing touchdowns ALL SEASON.

The Daily5 after a 30-17 win over the Lions:
1. Davis Webb was good. Proved something playing with and against first-team players. You saw the potential. That third-and-long strike to Shepard was a beauty. Webb is going to be the Giants backup QB this season.

2. Wayne Gallman is a player. He can make defenders miss. If anything happens to Barkley this season, Gallman will be the primary replacement. Jonathan Stewart is a situation player, at best

3. Overall defense looked strong. Pass rush dominant. Oliver Vernon and Kareem Martin had big games. Can't run on them. Concerns remain with Alec Ogletree and linebackers covering RBs/TEs and Eli Apple. Nothing tonight changed that.

4. Huge test passed by Aldrick Rosas. He hit a 55-yard FG and made his only extra-point attempt. Barring a meltdown in final weeks of preseason it looks as if he's going to be their kicker. Huge upset after last year

Pat Shurmur’s gonna be a dice-roller: “If the time time is right I’m going to go for it. The goal is to get in the end zone, and it’s not illegal to go for it on fourth down.” If he can trust his defense, that’ll help too.
