with porsches. It seems that I'm always stuck behind porsches with drivers who always drive 10 mph under the speed limit. Please if you end up buying a Porsche, don't be one of those guys
is a sad one. A neighbor of ours had a 2005 Carrera GT. She allowed her nephew to use it occasionally. He was a 6-foot-8 high school basketball star with a big future.
Anyhow, this ends the way you’d guess. One early evening he took it out with a buddy. Nobody knows if he was racing someone (no one came forward) or just pushing it, but he was on a stretch of road above Binghamton called “the rollercoaster” for obvious reasons. Kid launched the car - estimate was he was going between 100 and 110 - and basically became a pinball through some trees.
Car came to rest, little fires breaking out around it, in the rural front yard of my daighter’s then-elementary school librarian and her husband.
She said they got to the car in time to put out the fires before they built. They thought the two people in the car were “old men” because they had no teeth left, covered in blood. Unidentifiable as high school boys.
but what I notice about guys driving Porsche's is the same thing I notice about guys driving BMW's. They think they know how to drive... but they don't. Some of the worst drivers.
Your yacht. But, if your serious there isn’t really a wrong choice when it comes to 911s. I bought an older one (996) and every time I drive it I have fun. Join the local PCA, it’s worth it.
If you can afford it....buy it. I have a 2017 Panamera (new body style) and it’s the best car I’ve ever driven. I was going to buy a 911, but liked this better.
I cannot believe some of you are taking this guy seriously. He’s much more likely to be in the market for a 1995 Pontiac Grand Am than he is a Porsche 911. And he’s paying cash too? Haha! Riiiiight.
Am certainly not trolling anyone.. I saved up for it myself over a three year period, and sold my house for much more than I paid for it. And to answer a previous poster I drive around 4500 miles per year since I have my Agency Vehicle for work. I also have a 2017 4Runner for my DD.
and he loved it. Yes it was a glorified 924 with a 4 banger, but it ran real well and he loved the stick shift transmission. He often said it was the best transmission he ever had in a car.
911's are obviously on another level. If you are a driving purest / love to drive a sports car and could give a shit about the luxury items, then I'd say try to find a well maintained classic model within your price range. It's cooler to own and drive a classic versus a brand new posh car.
However, in the end, get what you want. This is your toy, and you should go for what will make you happy. Best of luck.

Consider yourselves trolled.

What is the difference between a Porsche and a porcupine? Â

A 911 sounds fun.
Why not try a Karmann Ghia?
Yup. Awesome. 100+ mph in a blink and feels like you’re going 60. Great as long as you can avoid the local constabulary you’re gold.
A cop with a Porsche. Perfect.

Disclaimer... My Brother told me that joke and he has always had a Porsche since the late 80's.
I'll be here all week!
Fast and mean...a thrill to drive
After 5 or 6 years it turned into a money pit...my brother dumped it like a bad habit
Great car...you needed deep pockets.
My brother has deep pockets...he didn't think twice on dumping it
