Happ going against the old club. Hopefully a speed bump like Lynn hit in the beginning of Friday's game isn't on tap here. So far, Happ has been excellent here (3-0, 1.89, 0.737 WHIP) but the 4.53 FIP makes me nervous since a bit of regression seems inevitable.

Bottom of the lineup is a bit ugly. Whatever. Let's get this sweep and just keep it rolling.
We need more

production out of Bird and Gardner to get this thing rolling. Hopefully Happ can give us 7 strong innings. We need to play well because nobody is afraid of this lineup.
Here is a good link

Let's get the sweep!

Interested to see how Happ responds to going against his former team but I'm expecting another strong outing from him.

In spite of his misplay in RF yesterday, I'd still rather have Walker out there than Robinson. Without Sanchez and Judge, I just think we need the better offensive guy playing.

What is with Yankees pitchers
section125 : 8/19/2018 1:26 pm : link
getting two outs and then giving up runs and the pitch count gets high? Sheesh..
Andujat RBI single.

Well Borucki has thrown 26 and hasn’t recorded an out yet so that works.
Bird!

With the big blast. Follows up his HR with a Granny today.

Heck of a 1st inning here by the Bombers.

Yeah hope so. I think the left hip got beat up there.
On Bird...
manh george : 8/19/2018 2:23 pm : link
O'Neil was talking last night about how the swing before the HR had no life on it. Then, on the HR, he exploded. On the GS today, he exploded again. There was a NY Post article earlier in the week about Boone saying how Bird's swing lacked explosiveness. If he is starting to get life back in the swing, it's a big plus for the team, obviously.

Yes. I guess it is like trying to guide a golf ball with your swing. Like He was trying not to miss or strike out.

Bird has been frustrating, but stuff like this is why you have to kind of stick it out for a bit before writing him off. I was livid after his AB vs TB in the 9th a few games ago - but he's the best option we have there right now. Just need to see what he does down the stretch here.
I like Happ.
section125 : 8/19/2018 2:48 pm : link
He meets the "eye test" as far as I am concerned. Effortless action, smooth delivery, attacks the plate and works quickly.
You don’t really fear the injury bug in baseball like you would
djm : 8/19/2018 2:50 pm : link
In the NFL. I just never expect this run of injuries the yanks have endured here. It’s not even that uncommon but I still don’t worry enough. Lesson learned this season. They seem to be battling tho. Just hang in there and hope guys do in fact make it back. A lot of ominous signs....
Hicks is a really really good baseball player

You can't have an All Star at every position. There probably isn't anything je doesn't do well. Great eye, power, excellent fielder, +Arm

Yea the first 5 times he looked safe, but the Ump can't call it using the "blade of grass in front of the base cam" that YES has

The MLB review place in NY does have all the camera angles. One broadcast (YES?) was talking about what MLB has to make the calls and apparently they have the ability to go frame by frame, FWIW.
Yea I wasn't talking about MLB

Hopefully Sonny isnt awful and the BP gets a rest. Hopefully Didi's MRI comes back clean.

yep and O'Neill just identified what we all see. Gets ahead then tries to finesse a K instead of pitching to contact. Way too many extra pitches.

But he escapes without a run...

Nice sweep. 32 games over .500. 1st time this year.

As much as we give Boone crap at times
Stu11 : 8/19/2018 4:33 pm : link
32 over is nothing to sneeze at. I don't wanna here "well anyone can win with this group!" The lineups and SP's he's been sending out there the past month are hardly the '27 Yankees...
.
arcarsenal : 8/19/2018 4:42 pm : link
Even better. A day off tomorrow!

Haven’t had one in what, 3 weeks? Hopefully Didi won’t need too much more than that.

Nor is it the '68 Yanks. He's done a decent job.
Not too encouraged by Boone's comments about Didi.

Seems almost resigned to a DL stint, and we've all seen bad bone bruises take a long time to come back from.

Another day off on Thursday too. Crazy how they can play so many in a row and then get two days off in a week.

Didi getting his heel checked out at the hospital. Hopefully that's just a precaution.

Yeah. Called it "significant", and his tone and general demeanor talking about it wasn't very positive. That said, it's an early diagnosis, I'm sure Boone is going off pretty limited information at this point.

That is not good. They cannot afford to lose another bat.

Good news, at least Sanchez is getting close.

arcarsenal : 8/19/2018 5:50 pm : link
Ugh, yeah - Boone made it sound like a DL trip may be in the cards for Didi. Once again the Frazier injury fucking sucks because there's a spot wide open in RF if we use Walker @ 2B and slide Gleyber over to SS while Didi is out. Instead we'll have to play Robinson there.

Stanton didn't sound super confident in being able play RF in Miami. I think he will for one of the games but we'll see.

In any event... 32 games over .500 is the new high watermark for the year and certainly isn't too shabby.

This team just needs to get healthy, man. This is getting crazy.
Well for aesthetics,

Jeever : 8/20/2018 10:08 am : link
On both HRs he was short and compact into the ball. I just wish that he and the rest of the team wasn't so pull happy. At least Andujar is using the whole field.
