NFT: Lisbon/Porto Recommendations

jgambrosio : 8/19/2018 8:57 pm
There was a thread a week or two ago about Lisbon that apparently got deleted.

Planning a trip to each city next month, after only taking three days off this year, need to check out for a bit. Spending three nights in each, starting off in Porto, just an easy Sun-Sat vacation.

I know the wife will want to do a wine/port tour out in the Douro valley while we're in Porto and I've heard a number of good things about Sintra while in Lisbon, but don't know much else about the area. It's just been somewhere I've wanted to go as I've never been, not to mention I've heard the food is FANTASTIC... TIA!
I have...

Sintra is fine

but you'll have a nice enough time ambling around Alfama and checking out a Fado performance in an intimate place - they're all over the place.

Lisbon is a fun place - few different cool places around Pink Street to grab a drink or two - can't go too wrong
If you're flying to Lisbon

Make sure you have your letters of transit properly filled out, because...

That was my thread, I titled incorrectly and it was deleted.
I am going to the Algarve region in September.
I am flying into Lisbon and taking the train south.
This trip is part vacation part apartment hunting.
I hear Porto is beautiful.

I'd consider renting a car. Its an easy drive and the freedom a car gives you is nice.
My Porto restaurant notes

Wine Quay bar was our home base @the Airbnb for happy hour and a glass of port on the way home.

Food at Terreirinho was authentic Local seafood. Got all specials. Really good.

Bacalhau had a crazy menu...super inventive chef. Servers were bumping into each other a bit but it added to the charm.

Restaurante LSD also good.

We drove to Pinhao on the Douro and visited wineries independently. Views on the drive were spectacular.
