Bautista has not been good but it's my feeling he was rushed. He was seen as a project, started hot and then they pushed him quickly. I think the top 3 RP's they have are Smith, Hanhold and Villines. Rhame doesn't look like he's a big leaguer to me, maybe the stuff bounces back but so far so meh.

come all these relievers we got suck. Bautista gives up runs like every time out. someone who throws 101 should not be hit this hard

He's pitched well but someone I spoke to had major concerns with his FB tendencies. Thinks it may be a real issue for him.
Well deserved for both, get them experience in a playoff hunt.
2017 Trades
Drew Smith (Lucas Duda) 12 IP, 7 Ks, 1.50 ERA, 1.250 WHIP In Minors, 37 IP 2.68 ERA, 36 Ks, 1.108 WHIP across AAA-AA (mostly AAA). So far, seems like the biggest win in these deals.
AJ Ramos (Ricardo Cespedes, Merandy Gonzalez) - 4.74 ERA in 2017 as a Met, despite 11.8 Ks/9. Career worst 1.632 WHIP in 2017. In 2018, Career worst 6.41 ERA, 1.627 WHIP, 10.1 K/9, walked a lot of guys. Torn labrum, out for season, and is a pending free agent.
Stephen Nogosek, Bautista, Jamie Callahan (Addison Reed)
Nogosek in 14.2 IP in Bingo has pitched to a 9.82 ERA. No bueno. He does have 16 strikeouts. In St. Lucie, he pitched to a 3.06 ERA before promotion in 32.1 IP with 37 Ks. Hoping for an unlucky small sample and he bounces back next season.
Gerson Bautista...as Gary Cohen would say, "Holy Hansel Robles." With the big league club, 5 games, 4.1 IP, 6 ER on 8 hits, 6 BB, for a 12.46 ERA and a 3.000 WHIP. Yuck. He's pitched to a 4.82 ERA in 9.1 IP in Bing and a 5.19 ERA in 34.2 IP in Vegas this year. He is getting Ks, 59 Ks in 44 IP in those two levels combined.
Jamie Callahan got a callup last year and allowed 3 ER in 6.2 IP for a 4.05 ERA and a 1.2 WHIP with 5 Ks. In Vegas this year, it did not go well. 9.72 ERA in 8.1 IP, 9 Ks, 2.160 WHIP. 14 Hits allowed. Opponents hit .318 against him. Callahan underwent shoulder surgery in June. Can't find out what it's for, guessing torn labrum? Dan might know. Anyway, he was done for the year and hopefully can re-establish himself next year. Jury still out on him.
Ryder Ryan (Jay Bruce) - was fantastic in St. Lucie earlier this year pitching to a 1.77 ERA in 20.1 IP, a 0.934 WHIP, and 23 Ks. But in Bing, he's struggled to a 4.73 ERA in 26.2 IP, 1.275 WHIP, but still rung up 27 Ks. There still could be something here, looking for progress next season.
Eric Hanhold (Neil Walker) - appearances in 4 levels in the minors this year, Hanhold has pitched 42.2 IP to a 4.01 ERA with 50 Ks and a 1.219 WHIP. He has struggled in Vegas with 8.03 ERA in 12.1 IP and a 1.703 WHIP with 13 Ks, but was very good in Bing: 2.84 ERA in 25.1 IP, 32 Ks, and a 1.184 WHIP. He missed some significant time to injury. His Vegas numbers seem a little artificially inflated, as he got hit for 6 runs in 1.1 IP in a June 8 appearance. Otherwise he's pitched to a 5 ER in 11 AAA IP, for a 4.09 ERA and 12 Ks but came back from a lengthy DL stint in August. He could be a factor in the NY Mets bullpen next year.
Jacob Rhame (Curtis Granderson) - 18 ER in 22.1 IP for the Mets this year, and given up 7 bombs. 7.25 ERA with 16 Ks, 29 Hits allowed, 1.522 WHIP, and those are improved numbers from his late season big league cameo last year. In AAA Vegas, however, he's pitched to a 3.38 ERA, allowed 4 HR in 29.1 IP, with a whopping 40 Ks. 0.989 WHIP, hitters hitting just about just .195 against him. There has to be talent here that is translatable, hopefully the Mets pitching coaches can figure him out and get some results at the ML level.
2018 Trades -
Daniel Zamora (offseason trade for Josh Smoker) - Has given the Mets 2.1 ML innings and so far so good, allowing 0 runs, 1 H, 1 BB, and a 0.857 WHIP with 3 Ks. Called up from Bing, where he pitched to a 3.48 ERA on 51.2 IP with 69 Ks and a 1.026 WHIP (love that). Hoping for continued success.
Bobby Wahl (Jeurys Familia) - Not so good at the ML level with the Mets, 5.1 IP, 6 ER, 2.438 WHIP, 9 H, 4 BB, but 7 Ks though. It's a small sample, and I think we'll get much better results in the future with him. His Vegas numbers after the trade were very good, 5.1 IP, 1.69 ERA, 8 Ks, 0.938 WHIP, just 1 ER allowed on 3 H and 2 BBs. He was outstanding for Oakland's AAA affiliate in Nashville prior to the trade, 2.27 ERA on 39.2 IP with 65 Ks. I think he'll bounce back and I believe he has a chance to be an important piece in the Mets bullpen next year. The other piece of that deal, Will Toffey, has been very good, .916 OPS in Bing, but doubtful that will continue.
Franklyn Kilome (Asdrubal Cabrera) - Not a reliever, but deserves a mention. In 4 starts since the trade, he's pitched 24.1 IP, 27 Ks, 1.110 WHIP, 2.96 ERA on 8 ER, with an 0-1 record to show for it at Binghamton. He's a work in progress, as he needs to work on efficiency, but overally very positive early returns.
Summary: At least for the near term of next season, it looks pretty strong that Smith will be in the big league bullpen, and possibly with a important role. Wahl I expect may do they same, and then we could have contributions from Hanhold and Zamora. Rhame and Bautista are possibilities, but Bautista in particular must work on his offspeed pitches and location to be more effective, and Rhame probably the same. I wouldn't throw dirt on them yet, but it's clear they have work to do before they can be counted on in the big league bullpen.
