It was at the peak of my hatred for the Jets. I hated them more than the Eagles and Cowboys at that time. I despised that team more than anything.
To go into that game and come out with not just a win, but a statement win that kept us alive in the playoff hunt.. i'll never forget it. I was on cloud 9 for Christmas morning the next day.
Little did I know what would happen just 4 weeks later.
All of those great memories that seem like yesterday to me and the case can be made that it was all because of VC. I'm not sure we beat the Jets without that 90-something yarder.
member. I'll always love what he did on the field and his story. My Dad's from Paterson so he really resonated with me. From saying "that #3 can PLAY," in preseason to hoisting the Lombardi. Just crazy.
Part of me feels as though he didn't give a comeback to the NFL a serious shot. He just seemed too focused on the fashion and entertainment industry. More power to him though, he's doing very well for himself.
Let's hope the way the Giants handled his exit doesn't affect anything. Hopefully since there's all new faces there is no bad blood and Cruz will be remembered for everything that made him the iconic Giant he was.
...almost every single preseason, there seems to be one or 2 no-name walk on types who light it up, only to fade away into the practice squad or released into FA purgatory, never to be seen again.
So yeah, UMass Victor Cruz nobody with a tremendous preseason. He was going nowhere, and we all knew it, didn't we?
One of the sweetest surprises the Giants ever produced, what a wonderful story and Good God, in 2011 he was just playing at another speed, quickness at a level that was virtually uncoverable at time, he and Eli just knew - patterns dictated by coverages, all he needed was a half step and he was GONE. How many 50+ yard TD's?
A fan favorite forever, his star shone too briefly, yes he better go STRAIGHT to the ring of honor.
To me, either the 99 yarder against the Jets or the TD against the Redskins after they had just given up a huge TD inside 2 minutes to go behind, so be #1. I was still seething about giving up the lead late when Eli hit him with that bomb.
Also propelled the Giants to an improbable Suoer Bowl won

Class act, and a hell of a player.

Thanks for great memories, VC.
In a horrific nightmare alternate timeline, he would have been picked up by Rex Ryan and help Mark Sanchez hoist the Lombardi.

Thank God we got him off the Jets PS, huh?
was rooting for him to have one last shot
sucks that Cruz and OBJ never took the field together
but so many great memories
he is going to be a media star big time now ...
The Salsa was novel, personal and just a perfect uplifting cap to a drive.
Great player and a shame his injury cut the magic short.

What an odd comment, what leads you to believe that?
If anything, Cruz has talked about saving his money and taking advice from Charles Way about how important it is to be careful with your finances.

So quick and such body control ... Thank-you Victor.
31 years old - he should still be starting.
But I'm glad he's off to a good start in his post-NFL life.
