How he didn’t suffer a broken neck with that vicious face mask penalty, is really a miracle, david Wilson suffered much less and his career ended......
Q: How big was the stop on the two-point conversion?
A: It was huge. That obviously is a different situation. If they make the touchdown and then they kick a field goal, we’re going to overtime. We made a big play, an incredible play. “Okay, they’re going for two? Okay, let’s line up and get the job done.” It felt good. They ran the ball right at me, which I always appreciate because it brings the best out of me. He (RB Saquon Barkley) lowered his head and it was a tough battle. I said, “Okay, this guy, he’s got a little something (laughing).” We found a way to get the job done and it feels good.
Q: Do you have a little more respect for Saquon after that collision?
A: Yes. I mean, I knew right away. The first run and the first couple of times I tackled him, I said, “this kid has something.” Obviously, you see it on tape, but we didn’t get to watch a lot of tape on him. It’s his college tape. Coming into the NFL against a team like ours, and making some of the plays he made, that kid’s going to be special. I traded jerseys with him after the game because I was like, “Okay, if he can stay healthy, he might one day be a Hall of Famer. So now, I’ll get his jersey when he’s young.”

This is great. I agree with Campbell that Barkley is special. Imagine if we had a above average O line. This kid could tear up the league.
To me, it looked like he was intentionally trying to injure him.
You know right away if you have the facemask, he hung onto that full handed well after he should have realized to let go

It wasn't even as dirty as Flowers realizing he was beat and sticking his leg out to trip the DE.

LOL...Yes I have and when you grab a facemask you know it immediately he kept ahold of that until his head was twisted almost completely 180 degrees. he was not letting go until Barkley was stopped dead
Now fuck off with your nonsense

Fuck off with my "nonsense?" The whole play happened in a second. There was no malicious intent, no deliberate dirty play....when your fingers wrap on a facemask, your mind doesnt process, "oh my, Ive grabbed a facemask and thats against the rules" and then has an opportunity to let go.

Of course it does, thus why you don't more plays like that because players know you see it in every single game where a player grabs it and within a sec let it go. What you don't see is a player getting rodeoed down like that.
Look, I don't ever interact with you on here because I find your act boring, you're always looking to start shit and I find that a waste of my time. So let's leave it at that and continue to not interact on here okay

You dont interact with me here because politics arent allowed of any kind and you never have a leg to stand on whenever you do bring up one of your screeching arguments. I choose not to interact with you because you never bring any substance or any truth when you argue something. Calais Campbell hasnever had the rep for being a dirty player. You bitch and whine bloody murder whenever your side loses and thus time we happenend to be pulling for the same result.
You cant brush me off when you squeal about that play being dirty. It wasnt. You just enjoy whinibg.
Actually, it's because I find you to be akin to a petulant child that offers zero in respect to any kind of football talk. Like I said you're just tedious to me
It was NOT Calais who grabbed Barkley's facemask. It was #91 - Yannick Ngakoue. He doesn't have the reputation of being a dirty player (Yannick or Calais). But in this specific instance, the foul was egregious and should have been subject to ejection. The league can stand on their pillar and espouse player safety, but until they act on the actual actions of others that jeopardize a player's safety, their platitudes ring hollow. Barkley's Neck Getting Twisted. - ( New Window )
Ejections are for deliberate actions with intent to harm.
You can't go by how it "looked". The guy had his hand out to make a tackle and it got tied up in a facemask. It's a 280+ pound force going one way and a 230 pound force going the other way. Of course it looks bad, but you're looking at the incident like the DE deliberately wrenched Barkley's neck to try to decapitate him, and simply rewatching the play shows that it's just something that happened during a regular football play.
but there are a lot of times, grasping and pulling the facemask is out of the defender's control once a finger gets caught in the grill.
And I don't think you can eject a player on that infraction unless it happens intentionally after the play is over or it was clear that the intent the entire time was to target the head. That didn't happen.
Unfortunate, but I'm just happy Barkley wasn't hurt.

When players grab another's face mask they know it and those with any kind of conscience will immediately let go!

Defensive players are trying to do their job to stop the ball carrier while also being engaged in a wrestling match against a blocker. He put his arm out to try to stop him while Barkley was also moving. It happens. It looked ugly. It doesn't mean that the defensive player was actively trying to give him a spinal injury.

Not buying that, you know when you are taking someones head off!
Think about the entire sequence. It took less than half a second. Releasing the grasp as a body part is tangled in the facemask isn't voluntary at that point.
You can actually see the defender after the play shaking his hand in pain!

I don't see how anyone can say for sure what a defender's Â
intention is on plays like this. But it's reasonable to assume, given the severity of the penalty his team is going to face, that grabbing a face mask is unintentional.
Bob Hayes by the facemask and literally spinning him 360 degrees around. He nearly lifted his feet off the ground. At the time I think the facemask penalty was only 5 yards. I miss the old days.

Should be suspended. That was the most egregious wtf face mask penalty I seen in a looong time.
Where was the rest of the Giants to stand up for their guy who just almost literally lost his head.

Defenders don't want to facemask. Many a guy has gotten injured themselves by having their hand caught.

Think about the entire sequence. It took less than half a second. Releasing the grasp as a body part is tangled in the facemask isn't voluntary at that point.

Just letting go isn't often an option.
Just letting go isn't often an option.
Just rewatched it and the defender reaches out for his helmet in desperation, while not intentional it is definitely NOT a clean play.
We got the 15 yards on the penalty, but we are lucky he didn't torque SB's neck.
