Congrats to Eli

Became all time Giants leader in games played.
It will barely be noticed

It is a shame. He's an all time great.
He played
mrvax : 9/9/2018 7:55 pm : link
really well against a ferocious pass rush. He even showed his ability to really move around in that pocket. Yes, he missed about 3-4 passes but overall, he played well.
Eli is the man
Rjanyg : 9/9/2018 8:05 pm : link
He made one super accurate pass today to OBJ on an in route that was in a high traffic. He still has it, a consistent running game and a little more time, he could have a monster year.
Agreed.

Was at the game and Eli seemed in control throughout despite no pass protection. This was a top defense they played against and at one point he was 11-11.

Manning became the fifth quarterback in NFL history to start at least 14 consecutive season openers with one team. The others include Tom Brad, Brett Favre, John Elway, and Dan Marino.
Think he answered many of the questions
BillT : 9/9/2018 8:08 pm : link
He’s not what we have to worry about. We’ve got a QB.
Looked good overall
Coach Red Beaulieu : 9/9/2018 8:11 pm : link
Guess we have to give credit to the guards and centers, Eli's kryptonite is the pocket pushed in his face.

Love or hate Eli, it's gotten to the comical point regarding this franchise's inability to give him even a mediocre offensive line.
My personal opinion..
Clintqb17 : 9/9/2018 8:16 pm : link
he played very well today. Our WR’s couldn’t break the big play. I think eli will have a Good year in this offense.

I’ll tell you what, at halftime, I was thinking to myself how great of a decision it was to stick with Eli. He looked really sharp and confident.
I don't think Eli's slipped much

I just don't trust this organization to fix the roster in time for him to make use of it. Overpaying Solder, flipping Flowers to RT and promoting a nobody like Halapio sure didn't restore my faith going forward.
He played well?
Doomster : 9/9/2018 10:15 pm : link
3 fgs and a long Barkely td, is not much to show for playing "well".....

I've been a long supporter of Eli, especially with what he went through last year, but he makes the same mistakes and he is not the player he was, to overcome them....

Yes Flowers sucked......but on that 2nd down int for a pick 6, nobody was open, he was pressured, and a vet QB like him should have thrown that away......you still have 3rd down....

And yes, the Giants have failed him since 2011 by not putting a decent OL in front of him.....and because of that, he will be more prone to mistakes.....

We still see the drops from EE and SS, we still see Flowers whiffing, and we still see the stupid mistakes from Eli.....and now I question Shurm....4th down, and you leave Flowers on an island?....how many of us could have predicted the pressure from Flowers' guy? That was your last gasp, Shurm, you blew it.....where was that chip block from a TE?

Congrats

Yes he is!

Doomster (it was autocorrected “doorstep”) is my least favorite poster on BBI!

I sort of feel sorry for him

I wonder if he ever thought of accomplishing professionaly a fraction of what a 10 year starter in the NFL has accomplished

I don’t consider success to be money, fame, or celebrity
Rather determination, sacrifice, ingenuity, resilience, and creativity, and many other strengths

Some people are delusional about themselves

And others disillusioned about nearly everybody

Weird!?!

This roster is built the wrong way for a veteran pocket quarterback. Built from the outside in. We saw yesterday that Beckham and Barkley type talents don't matter if you get dominated at the LOS.
Longevity and durability are indisputable

I think they put up the record at the beginning of the broadcast.

Eli should have reminded Flowers after the game that he is not helping...
The good news is that we probably faced the team
Ira : 9/11/2018 7:56 am : link
with the most devastating pass rush that we'll face all season.

The OL is the team's Achilles heel and has been for over 6 years. Weapons can't be used if the OL doesn't protect for 3-5 seconds.

The former NYG front office squandered Eli's prime years.

You are correct. Watching the games and seeing decent olines really highlights how bad the Giants line is.
I'm pretty certain that DG will get it fixed before next season. Not much he can do now.
FWIW, I think Halapio will improve with game experience as will Hernandez. Omameh, I'm not certain on, but he was better than in PS.

Of one thing I am certain. Shurmur will make adjustments to mitigate what he can. Huge difference between last year and this year.

Eli looked like Eli. Engram needs to catch the ball - way too many drops.

This is correct. Would have been interesting if Gettleman went OL in the first 2 rounds while keeping Eli.

This was a superb defense... Let's just give it a bit of time.. They looked amazingly better than last year at any point. Eli had tons of pressure but also at times had time. They covered very well. They were unwilling to give up a long pass.
Listening to WFAN should leave any real fan embarrassed and ashamed.
SethFromAstoria : 9/11/2018 4:03 pm : link
It's just hilarious to hear people cry about Darnold for so many reasons but to make two obvious points... Did anyone happen to notice that the QB nearly had a perfect half? In addition when anyone chooses to embarrass themselves by complaining about Eli Manning to say they wish they had this rookie with one game under his belt, did anyone also happen to see the phenom rb break a run that was not possible for many years here and bring the game within reach in the final minutes? The run was insane but also this came in a game he was defended as well as you'll see. Against worse defenses what will his games look like? They shut this kid down and he broke a 70 yard run.
They put up 302 yards of total offense. 111 of them from Beckham
Ten Ton Hammer : 9/11/2018 4:16 pm : link
and 106 of them from Barkley. The game was a single play away from turning.

To say that high quality players don't matter is a bit of a dramatization. We saw pretty clearly last season just what an NFL offense can look like if you're going try to compete with pieces like Roger Lewis and Tavarres King. Get too myopic about an offensive line and you end up with the Dak Prescott-led cowboys.
