This I couldn't understand. Barkley had only TWO passes thrown his way yesterday -- ONE SCREEN that got 18 yards, and another pass I don't even remember cause it only went for 4.
I thought the whole point was to get him a lot touches as a receiver -- where he'd be a human mismatch against most LBs,(maybe not JAXs).
But instead of getting him the ball in space, they ran him 18 times into the teeth of that JAX DL -- the biggest strength of that D -- all day long like any bell cow RB who doesn't have receiving skills. No wonder he got stuffed early on. It's a testament to him and the blockers that he broke the long one.
I don't mind him getting carries, but we've been hearing all along about how they can split him out wide. Ok, maybe not against JAX, but there were also no wheel routes, no check-down dump off routes that might have helped Eli given the rush in his face, and only the one screen. I realize it's hard to run screens against that D. But I thought they'd try to get him to the second level so he could be an outlet.
Not sure what they're waiting for. And it didn't look like it was because he was staying in there to protect. He actually wasn't doing a lot of that that I saw.
One things for sure, if this was McAdoo he wouldn’t have changed a damn thing week to week. I don’t believe that will be a problem moving forward.
He's known as a home run hitter and that's what he's proven he can do in the NFL in a very short time span, hit home runs. I trust they are already using this guy correctly and I'm sure we'll see more creativity as the season goes on.
Let's focus on other things that are actual problems.

Bingo, let this guy do what he’s best at even behind a shitty line. He will only get better and will get his fair share of swing passes, screens, etc. when the time is right. Only so much you can do with a terrible line
passes thrown his way. As he said next game OBJ may be shut down and he'll have less opportunities. Defense does dictate where some of the plays are gonna go.
Let’s wait and see...
Seriously!
Everyone was wondering how Beckham would look post-injury and post-contract. Oh just 11 catches for over 100 yards.
Everyone was wondering if Barkley was worth the #2 overall pick, would his skills translate to the NFL. Oh he just broke a 70 yd TD game in his very first NFL game.
Everyone wondering does Eli still have it? Well he threw some great passes yesterday, hasn't lost an ounce of zip on his fastball, and almost led a game-winning drive if not for a Shepard drop at a critical time and a missed DPI call.
ALL AGAINST ONE OF THE TOP DEFENSES IN THE LEAGUE.
Cheer up, people.
39 / 59 plays were directed at either him or Beckham.
Not sure how much more anyone could expect for a guy in his first pro game in terms of usage.
The OL and TE's all sucked run blocking, especially EE..Ellison's blocking ability is greatly exaggerated.....

The only thing that's proven in any of this is Beckham being healthy. And id the pass to Shepard was better he likely would have caught it. But ultimately this post seems to be just about pom poms so who cares.
