Herbert is my QB1
Grier is my QB2
Drew Lock of Missouri is my QB3
And as far as other guys to pay attention to, Stidham of Auburn, Finley of NC State, Thorson of Northwestern, Shea Patterson of Michigan, Brian Lewerke of Michigan State, Daniel Jones of Duke...
You could also pay attention to Jake Bentley of South Carolina
I think Grier is a player for sure. A real playmaker.
Watched Finley against JMU and he looked very solid with his mechanics. Granted, JMU is 1-AA but they are a 1-AA powerhouse and have pro prospects on that team. Two undrafted seniors last year made NFL rosters for this NFL season.
Lock is talented and can really sling it around. Want to see how he does against Georgia and Alabama in October. Will be a great gauge.
I’m fond of Stidham, too. In very good hands with Gus M and had been productive in big SEC games. This is a big year for him.
Look, he’s small but you’ve got to love McSorley. Guy is just tough and always makes plays. If he was 6’2” he’d be a first rounder...
Him or Grier. As of now it looks like a pretty strong QB class.
Herbert, Grier, Lewerke, Stidham, Lock & Finley.
Even Kyle Shurmur has looked really good this year. He's completing 68% of his passes with 4 TDs and 0 INTs. Probably should have 6-7 TDs if it wasn't for his receivers.
Best draft position possible to secure Sam Darnold; I don't have it in me to even consider whom they might draft as a quarterback next draft.
After last night those who convinced themselves none of the quarterbacks were worth the second pick, mostly because they were all in on Eli, will begin to have second thoughts.
It already began during the Jets game thread last night.
They weren't going to draft a QB unless a perfect candidate was there (do they even exist?). Unless the thinking has changes, they'll find flaws in these guys too and talk themselves out.. Eli still has years left, etc.
Only Grier, the others, as far as Hebert and Lock, Â
would be majorly disappointed if either of those guys were our first round picks. I'd like to see Lock actually beat a decent SEC team first, Hebert can't stay healthy, and there's not nearly enough of a sample size for him(how many big games has he played in).
It's amazing, I thought this past year was an amazing QB draft, and for anyone pining for a first round pick QB next year, the cub bard is going to be bare.

It wasn't that they were all in on Eli, I think that the Giants brass convinced themselves that the QB crop just wasn't up to snuff. After watching Barkley tho, we did get a special player, can't argue that.
but D. Haskins, Ohio State QB1 looks pretty great. i played Muirfield Village friday with a WR from about 20 years ago, said OSU finally has a pro style QB..and on the radio today, i heard them saying he has his team at the line of scrimmage ready to hike 20 seconds after the previous play ends...they are playing quick and in a pro offense...we will see after he plays TCU this weekend...
Grier wasnt amazing at FL, and he has beat 2 trash teams so far, I will wait and see with him after he plays a few good teams...and I am a Tennessee fan, we are garbage.
RE: I'm not sure if he is coming out just yet... Â

Grier was actually very good at Florida, and they ended up looking so much worse without him.
I don't care how bad you think Tennessee is, for West Virginia to put a beatdown on them is impressive. They are still an SEC team with NFL talent, and Grier looked like he belonged.

I saw Haskins play at the Bullis School in Potomac, MD. We were considering sending our son there a two years ago. So we went to watch the football team play. Bullis play a spread offense and Haskins really looked the part. Athletic kid but very capable in the pocket. I think he's going to be the best pure passer Meyer has ever had.
So I think you are more than right in tabbing him as a future prospect...

There will not be a worthy top 5 talent in the 2019 draft. Herbert and Froer May go round 1 simply out of positional value, but these guys are not on the level of talent as Darnold/Rosen/Mayfield/Allen. Finley and lock have NFL bust/backup written all over them and both are likely to be mid round picks.
Here’s the thing, it’s not easy to get your next franchise impacting qb under center. The Giants could have to wait many years, or heck even decades to get that guy. There are a myriad of teams that have gone through it. Even if the Giants tank a season, there may not be a guy worthy of a pick, like in 2013 and 2019. If the Giants go the way I believe- perpetual mediocrity- then they’ll have to find a willing trade partner to get up to the top of the draft, which may not be possible giving that there may not be a willing partner. Additionally, teams that have their qb tend not to be picking top 3.
It’s not a given that you snap your fingers and the next guy just appears. And no, it’s unlikely that the Giants will find a guy in the mid rounds, for those of you that haven’t learned your lesson from Nassib and Webb. This is the reason many of us wanted Sam Darnold. Think about how monumentally bad the Giants were to be in position to draft Eli in 2004 and have a shot at Darnold in 2018. That’s not happening again for a very long time, and both of those years aligned with drafts that may have produced multiple franchise qbs.
The reality that most fans need to face, and I think more are awakening to it, is simply that the Giants could very well be in a Brown/Graham/Kanell/Maddox type lull for many years, at which point OBJ and Barkley’s careers are likely on the downside if not long over.
By desparetely avoiding qb hell, DG May have placed the Giants smack dab in the middle. This team is not immune from qb purgatory.
I'm telling you right now, don't sleep on Grier. He is the absolute real deal. If he stays on his current trajectory, he's going to be a legit top 5 pick and, IMV, more talented than Mayfield.
I am a huge Northwestern fan. Thorson is not the same since the injury. He does not look very good. He is not very mobile anymore and his play has been very hesitant. He looked terrible in the loss to Duke this past weekend.
Maybe he gets some confidence back but until then, it is a big no.
The next QB with some serious potential that will come out of Northwestern is Hunter Johnson is a few years.
no prospect of the caliber of Darnold et al. Grier has some Mayfield in him, but not enough to overdraft him. Fromm and Herbert have to back up their pedigree and are still youngsters.
RE: Still not seeing a no-brainer QB in this class Â

Not necessarily. Mahomes went 10th, Watson 12th, Allen 7th and Rosen 10th. Jury is still out on all, especially in this past class but Mahomes and Watson both look like the real deal. In the last 5 years the Giants picked 12, 9, 10, 23 and 2. And that's not just throwing out great QB's who didn't go in the first round where teams can get lucky either.
I don't see why people get all worked up about this. I wanted Darnold and posted about it on numerous occasions but the fact of the matter is Darnold hasn't yet proven that he's a superstar QB and the Giants haven't tried and failed to secure their qb of the future.
NFL Draft. I know he's got a baseball future ahead of him, but if he ends up looking like the best QB in college football, that could throw a wrench into everything. He's a like a faster Russell Wilson.
Clearly dreaming here, but Murray, Barkley and Beckum would be pretty sick.

Love the way he can make any throw and fit the ball into a a 6 inch window. Plus he has a great ability to extend the play but he never looks to run.
I went to WVU so I might be biased, but this guy is also better than any QB I've seen there, and it's by a long shot.

Good WR prospect in Jennings, too.

hands down. Looks like an Aaron Rodgers clone although that air raid offense worries me a bit.

Sills as well. They also have a couple guys behind them who will be talked about in 2019.

He's an interesting prospect for sure, as his WR Anthony Johnson

When we are in the top 10 again next spring, draft the best available pass rusher, OL, or CB.

If are sitting in the 12th slot for example, we will not be dealing with 10 teams ahead of us who want a QB
