Fantasy football--waiver wire pickups

Milton : 9/11/2018 8:08 am
This is probably the most active week of the year in terms of the waiver wire as teams get in line to correct for week 1 surprises and disappointments.

Available on waivers (PPR league): Allison, Golladay, Enunwa, and Dorsett. Thinking of dropping Keelan Cole for one of the four, how would you rank them?

Also thinking of dropping Ty Montgomery for TJ Yeldon (I have a feeling Fournette is going to nursing injuries all year long, that's been his history). Phillip Lindsay is also an option in exchange for Montgomery.

Waiver Wire Song of the Day - ( New Window )
Golladay has the best situation

Terrible defense
QB who likes to throw.

Enunawa would be 2nd choice.
I am targeting Lindsey and Yeldon
Bobby Humphrey's Earpad : 9/11/2018 8:25 am : link
Golladay is a good WR pickup as is Godwin.
Surprised Golladay
pjcas18 : 9/11/2018 8:32 am : link
is still available, 11th round pick in my 12-team league.

Does anyone buy Jared Cook or was this a one-week wonder (like he has every year)

Carr looked at Cook nearly ever play. Carr was so bad that he actually may just force it to him. Gruden claiming cooper would be focal point of the offense seemed to be all noise. Carr hardly looked at him.

yeah, resulted in at least one pick, maybe more.
I'm trying to pick up Cook (or another TE)
Eli Wilson : 9/11/2018 8:48 am : link
as Greg Olsen is my only TE at the moment. I dropped my backup TE to grab James Conner last week. That seems to have worked out thus far.

The problem is, who to drop.

Here are my choices:
Nick Chubb
Sterling Shepard
Jamaal Williams
Kenny Stills
Peyton Barber

or Greg Olsen if he goes on IR, which they haven't done at this point.
I like Allison more than Galloday
UConn4523 : 9/11/2018 8:51 am : link
but that’s just me.
I'm considering the following WRs
Dr. D : 9/11/2018 8:53 am : link
Cobb
Enunwa
Keelan Cole
Beasley

We use blind bids, Cobb will cost more than others. He's coming off big game, but historically he's inconsistent.

The others could be their teams WR1, but on lesser Os.
Enunwa
dep026 : 9/11/2018 8:59 am : link
looks great for a PPR league. Darnold looked to him often. May not break off long plays but 6-8 catches a game is never a bad thing.

I don't like overreacting to week 1 performances, especially after a week 1 win, but I hated picking Clay as my backup TE at the time and still do after a turd performance. Who would you rather have as your TE2 - Kittle in SF, or Ebron in IND?

Kittle 100%

Carr was forced to checkdown to Cook all game long. You had Talib and Peters who shut it down.

Of course. Galloday is probably the better player but Allison is going to get a ton of single coverage and play a ton of snaps.

None of that matters if Rodgers is fucked up. Until I know that Golladay is the better choice. If Rodgers is healthy then it is close.

yeah that goes without saying, I think we all agree on that. But we are taking about most people’s 4th or 5th WR and even if Rodgers misses a couple of weeks I’d rather wait until then and already have Allison.

But we have to make that decision before we know how Rodgers really is. IMO, Golladay is being featured in that offense. I have Allison in a couple of leagues and I have been through this with Packers WRs before. Look at their TEs. They have not gotten fantasy production out of their TEs in like forever but yet everybody was all over Jimmy Graham this year thinking they would change their offense where they would feature him. It has been the same offense since McCarthy took over and that number 3 WR is not as important. I agree that he has a big opportunity but I just dont' see it. I hope Allison kills it but I just see Golladay being the better player. Golladay was starting in 2 WR sets so he really isn't their number three. They want his role to grow. Plus, GB has a bunch of WRs ready to go behind Allison so if he doesn't play well he could easily lose his job or playing time to someone else. That will not happen with Golladay.

Or Quincy Enuwa? If it's up in the air, I usually take the guy who's QB is better, but Enuwa might be a security blanket for a young QB, and in a PPR league I'm wondering if that's the better idea.
Robbie
UConn4523 : 9/11/2018 9:54 am : link
yes, and I alluded to that. Up to you on what you want to do but waivers, IMO, should be for higher ceiling players. How many people are actually starting Galloday week to week? If Rodgers plays Allison is basically a good bet for your Flex or an emergency start at WR.

Depends on your strategy and risk/reward threshold.
Guess I drafted well this year

in my 14 team PPR

As I have Allison, Golladay and Godwin as my backups behind Hilton and JuJu (plus Garcon).

Wonder if I should try and sell some of them off now while they are hot, or keep the solid depth they all bring.

Rest of my roster:

QB: Rivers
RB: Barkley, Miller, Ingram, Mack, Foreman (IR designation)
TE: Engram
K:McMannus
DEF: Chargers

Check down might have been the wrong phrase. I just mean as progressions went with the rams D-Line and with Talib and Peters covering the WRS, Cook was the easy target.

I'd pray for Rodgers, but as a backup maybe look who the opponent is and stream the QB, I mean who expected Fitzpatrick to go off like he did on Sunday? I'd maybe ride the hot hand, or go with Darnold, but I don't think either of them finds it as easy as they did this week.

Cook has one great week every year, hard to trust him, but if you need a TE, he probably has a decent floor.

Lindsay and Ekelar will split carries/be situation backs, but both have value

Godwin may be the most valuable if D-Jax remains in concussion protocol.

Fitzpatrick isn't a crazy idea. He has a ton of targets around him. And there are rumblings that when WInston returns he may not get the starting job back. That wouldn't surprise me at all. I think they are done with Winston.

Strahan91 : 9/11/2018 12:41 pm : link
I'd be giving up Peyton Barber and Golladay for Chris Hogan. I have depth and i'd be buying low on Hogan and selling high on Golladay. half point ppr and Barber isn't going to catch too many balls but volume will be there on carries. Tough call though with Edelman coming back. Rest of team:

QB: Goff
RB: Barkley, Freeman, Breida, Marlon Mack
WR: Tate, Sanders, Gordon, Cole, Ryan Grant, Godwin, Rishard Matthews
TE: Kelce

That is horrible. In one league I am probably dropping Hogan to get Golladay off of waivers. Point being, Hogan has little upside. He went on a string of games in which he scored TDs, and honestly TDs are elusive. He was never a high catch guy, he's pretty TD dependent. Moreover, he's MAYBE the third receiver in that offense and now possibly the 4th, and when Edelman returns who knows? I think it was a mistake to draft him.
You win some you lose some...
Milton : 9/12/2018 5:52 am : link
At RB, I put in waiver claims for Lindsay, Yeldon, and Ekeler in that order and came away with Ekeler (and dropped Ty Montgomery). Montgomery didn't produce much last week and I figure it will only get worse for him once Aaron Jones returns. Mistake? Maybe. My other RBs are Gurley, David Johnson, and Breida.

At WR I added both Golladay and Allison at the expense of Keenan Cole and Greg Olsen. Cole may be higher up on his team's depth chart, but I didn't see the upside with him, whereas Golladay and Allison are dripping with it. My other WRs are OBJ, Tate, Watkins, and Lockett (so Golladay and Allison serve as much better "boom or bust" lottery tickets than Cole would; and having both Tate and Golladay means if one gets injured, the other goes up in value). My other TE is Njoku. ASJ remains available but I'm gonna wait another week before deciding if I need to carry two TEs.

Landing Lindsay or Yeldon would've been nice, but I can't complain. How did the waiver wire treat you?
As a Walker owner, I whiffed on Cook or Dissly at TE
Heisenberg : 9/12/2018 8:22 am : link
Who do we prefer from who is left? Seals-Jones ARI? Or the super athletic but completely unknown Jonnu Smith who steps into Walker's Job?
I picked up Smith
pjcas18 : 9/12/2018 8:31 am : link
but both leagues where I had Walker, I had backups/other TE's (because of Walkers injury history), 1 league I had Jordan Reed, and the other Njoku.

but in one league I added Jonnu Smith - not because I know much about him, but because Mariota loves the players to Walker I figure maybe he just loves them to the TE in that scheme.

The other I added Dissly.

I missed out on: Enunwa in all leagues Lindsay in all leagues, Jared Cook in all leagues and Geronimo Allison in all leagues.

In one league we have a $200 FAAB and the same person spent $45 on Ted Ginn Jr, and $69 on DeSean Jackson.

over half his budget on two WR's, one in concussion protocol, week 1 (same guy who traded me Brees and Golladay for Davante Parker and Courtland Sutton).

The price for Lindsay in that league was $61. I bid $4.
I like Seals Jones

Of course but production is production. I also don’t mind split backfields like other do. Guys like Coleman are insanely valuable in fantasy, for example. If Lindsey can get 10 touches a game he’s got a ton of value.

If it doesn’t work I’ll live. But Dissley went before him which I laughed at.
