at first read, couldn't believe it. then more I thought of it, what other team do you put in the bottom 5? DAL? MIA? Football Outsiders - ( New Window )
Bills, Browns, Colts, Titans, Raiders, Cowboys, Lions, Cards Â
sample? These guys are utter idiots. Honestly, if the Giants weren't 3-13 last year not many people would be concerned about losing to a team that was an inch away from the Super Bowl last year.

how low of an opinion most people outside of NY have of Eli Manning. And, to be honest, people outside of our division rivals (I remember many Cowboy fans saying they would take Eli in a heartbeat over Romo back in Romo's prime, mostly because Romo never won anything though). As proven by Eli's extremely low rating in Madden '19, many people think he is in the bottom 5 of starting QBs in the league (and worse than a lot of backups). I think this view people have of Manning is what has led a lot of people to assume the Giants are going to have another terrible year.
Because bbi has a semi delusional belief in our qb/offense. Time will tell but when was the last time we broke 30 again? Once that starts to happen people will recalibrate but we aren’t the only team with a bad offensive line but we are one of the teams failing to move past it even once in a blue moon.

It might have something to do with 4 of the last 5 years of football around here and the 33-48 over thst stretch.

Agreed, but it's also probably true he's overrated here in NY by fans because of what he's done. A lot of folks thinking with their heart.
Look at the schedule

Giants could conceivably start 0-7.
"Conceivably"?? Why, because they lost the opener? In a couple of weeks, they host the Saints. Since everyone likes to go apeshit over one game, why aren't the Saints a pushover seeing they just allowed 500 yards at home to a bearded fuck?
or not, Giants without major injuries probably did enough to get back solidly into mediocre land and will likely win between 6 - 8 games and get stuck out of reach of the highest rated, can't miss prospects.
doesn't mean they can't draft a great player, Beckham wasn't top 10, but harder to get a QB.

Other than some Uber-homer NYG fans, nobody throughout the NFL landscape views Eli as anything better than a pedestrian, at best, QB.

This. I read constantly on the forum how Eli is a borderline or lock Hall of Famer. But outside of NY and Giants fans, our guy is seen as a borderline bust and on the same level as a Case Keenum. "Sanchez is the best QB in NY" was a real thing.
Jacksonville is a good team, and we played them pretty well, kept it a game longer than we should have. The only misplays we made (OL failure, TE drops and QB pick) are ones we aren't likely to correct this year.
Basically everything else went pretty well, and we only have one injury of significance (Vernon) the give us hope of improvement going foward. I am excited by the rookies and even Eli Apple's play, but counting on that is wishful thinking.
Eli started 11 for 11 and we were still losing....
So we are more likely to play worse rather than better in the weeks ahead. Yes, I'm a fan, but viewing this way will make the inevitable stinker easier to handle.
these odds have no basis in fact. Looks like they took the 2018 draft positions, looked at the first NFL games played and combined the 2.
What I saw last Sunday was the Giants playing very well and a few key mistakes created a loss. The young, new Giants looked like a solid team ready to put it altogether. 9-7 likely.

this isn’t something that made up Eli has been rated 24th or 25th best starting QB the last 2 seasons. He actually needs a lot of help to be even useful look at all the excuses made for him....Needs an O-line, needs a TE, needs a RB. His excuses are running out if you need all pro everything you aren’t very good. I hope Eli can turn into that player he was years ago but 1 or 2 good games a year isn’t going to give you any renewed hope that he will be that guy from 2011.

Is this year “blow for Bosa”?
Wouldn't it have been "Blow for Baker"??

Nobody thought Mayfield was going first overall last year. Most thought it was Darnold. This year, the early consensus is Bosa is the top pick.

Yes at the beginning of last year the discussion was whether Darnold or Josh Allen would go 1st overall. Darnold was the favorite at the time.
