He payed 48 snaps in week 1 but didn’t get on the stat sheet. Now he has a brace on his knee and says his knee is “jacked up”. Loved the effort and the results JPP brought to the table his first few seasons before the hand injury, but trading him and his contract may be Gettlemen’s best move to date.
His career here was certainly not what it could have been. It included a tragic accident, a bunch of injuries and ultimately a bad contract, but he was better than he gets credit for. There is probably no 2011 Super Bowl without his efforts.

There is definitely no 2011 Super Bowl without JPP on defense and Cruz on offense. Both delivered superhuman performances at precisely the right moments to get us into the tournament... then Eli took over.

and 2011 performance was epic, but boy did this guy never pan out. Blowing off a hand didn't help, but jettisoning him was a smart move.
JPP more than panned out and jettisoning him was the right move.
Don't rewrite history as if he was a bum.
He's 7th all time in team history in the Sack column, ahead of George Martin. What on earth are you talking about?
You may be on to something ... Flowers is even worse ... no honing the craft nor any request for his opponent or himself (lack of studying)
JPP had more god given talent ....
Tuck has a much better personality. Although he went through a period of people calling him Eeyore
Sure he had a lot of athletic talent that he didn't live up to, but he was a Giant great.
Injuries - self inflicted and otherwise - derailed him.
It was a beautiful time, Philly fans chased Graham off the internetz because he sucked compared to JPP XD
I definitely soured on JPP. Poor locker room presence and no love of the craft like Strahan. Osi developed a better bull rush move. Quintessential Reese pick.
I don't know about that. His % if snaps was always very high.
If anything he should have come out more often

According to Tuck himself in America's game, for most of the 2011 season he was .

Agreed.
But I like it more when we have someone at least as productive to replace him. I don't think that they have him.
In 2016, in 12 games, JPP had a good season. Seven sacks, three forced fumbles, five passes batted away at the LOS.
Last year a little less. In sixteen games eight sacks, two forced fumbles, four passes batted down. Not great, but is there someone better to replace him. Seems like if you say win now and pass up your next QB you would keep all your best players to make that run.
Is JPP a little like Banks. Carl got going in 1986, first Super Bowl win. In 1987, the strike season, he peaked with 9 sacks. Then for the remainder of his nine seasons with the Giants he never picked more than 4.0 in the season.
In the current era, Banks probably would have been cut in 1990 when he only played in nine games with 1.5 sacks. Too injury prone and ineffective to keep at a high price.

Banks was a 3-4 LOLB, not expected to be the primary pass rusher, like a 4-3 RDE.
All other years of his career never even selected to the Pro Bowl.
Because they wanted the flexibility of having him inside on passing downs. Of course, gaining a bunch of weight isn't a great idea for a guy with back problems.
