An emotional Janoris Jenkins left at the start of today’s practice. The team said Jenkins is dealing with a “family situation” that is unrelated to his brother, who is facing aggravated manslaughter charges.

CB Janoris Jenkins left practice to deal with a family issue.
OLB Olivier Vernon (high ankle sprain) also didn't appear to practice. Rode the bike and worked with a trainer on the side.

A visibly distraught Janoris Jenkins left practice very early today for what the team described as a "family situation." Pat Shurmur consoled him before he left.
I don't expect him until week 4 at best..

No Vernon it looks like. Shame.

Regarding high-ankle sprains, two rookie WRs for the Skins suffered them vs. the Cardinals and had surgery. Gruden mentioned something about a new procedure. Both were placed on IR.
I was never aware of a surgery for high-ankle sprains. If OV can recover and get close to his level of play, the Giants dodged a serious bullet.
Skins WR to IR after Surgery for High-Ankle Sprains - ( New Window )
They lost one of their most important players in a practice before the season started. It's the opposite of dodging a bullet.

If he doesn't go on IR, the Giants dodged a bullet (and I agree)
Love it. The guys leaves practice in tears and your hope is he’s a full go on Sunday.
Not a chance. Carter will get his reps anyway, they're rotating out there. Missing Vernon means you'll get more of the bottom of the roster than you want out there, even if they're not out there a lot.
Agreed he is def gone unless he gets like 15 sacks or something. Just too injury prone and inconsistent since he’s been here. They’ll give his contract to Collins and go from there.
