NFT: ESPN+ ESPN3 Streaming ???

VTDAD : 9/13/2018 5:27 pm
Can someone help me understand whats going on with ESPN?

I subscribe to the magazine, get Insider for free and get a lot of options (Espn3, Acc Network...) streaming thru Roku because of my DirecTV service.

Now I get an email That says:

"Insider, plus everything ESPN+ has to offer at no extra cost.

Great news, you'll continue to get access to Insider coverage, plus live sports and exclusive originals—all at no extra cost! Insider content is now integrated into ESPN+, the new multi-sport, video streaming service from ESPN."

I understood that ESPN+ was $5 a month, but now its free?

Sounds too good to be true. What am I missing?
this doesn't answer your question

but I have one for you. Back in the day, Xbox360 allowed you to do simultaneous streams in the ESPN app. It was great during college football season. Currently the app on Xbox no longer provides that feature. Does the roku app allow that?
It sounds

like since you're already paying for insider, now you get ESPN+. I would just confirm that you aren't on an automatically renewing subscription.
ESPN+ and Insider Service Are Combined

If you have the ESPN Insider and Magazine subscription, then ESPN+ is free. It is actually cheaper than buying ESPN+ by itself (40 vs 50 annually). We may need to worry about them increasing the Insider subscriptions but hopefully they will just grandfather people in at the lower rate indefinitely.
I can’t get a feel for espn+ v espn app

Is the end game to move things away from free app or is this simply a way to give cord cutters an option and if you subscribe to cable they will continue to give you all the content on espn app?
I guess I'm not going to worry about it

I get the magazine for $5 a year and Insider was free when I entered the code from the mailing label.

I'm sure they'll find a way to raise the cost in the future.

Or maybe they'll add it to the content you get with being a cable subscriber.
Again

I think the WATCH ESPN app is only for games that are currently on one of ESPNs channels (Espn, Espn 2, ESPN U etc). The ESPN + is for games that are not on any ESPN channel at the time.

I guess you're right, but I subscribe to the Sports Package on DirecTV and there is lots of stuff on the app that is not on DirecTV... Syracuse BB & FB come to mind.

Plus looks like it carries more non-mainstream sports and the Ivy League.
