but I'll listen, haha. MGK's "Rap Devil" was really weak, IMO. Thought 75% of it was corny disses that he was barely able to make rhyme. And apparently a ton of what he said isn't even true.
last week and laughed at it, completely lame and uninteresting. I actually didn’t think Eminem would even respond but now that he did you see even more clearly how bad MGKs was.

Rap Devil was horrible. This line is better then the entire Rap Devil song.

Lethal injection.
Go to sleep six feet deep, I'll give you a B for the effort.
But if I was 3 foot 11 you'd look up to me, and for the record you'd suck dick to be me for a second.
Eminem's was better lyrics, probably not as good production level. Eminem is one of my idols though it sucks when he puts out trash like revival.
People that can't figure out what's great about Eminem and make snide comments about adults listening to him won't get it. The guy is a genius lyricist. It seems like his brain is has a never-ending supply of sick rhymes and wordplay.
Do any of the rap guys create original music? Just asking.
There’s a difference between sampling and stealing. Stealing for example, is illegal. Yes lots of artists sample in addition to making their own beats. It’s also not limited to rap artists.
Part of the reason Eminem responded because he knew it came from Diddy Â
MGK is signed by Diddy, meaning Diddy financed the Rap Devil song and video that went with it. This is rehashing some Dre vs Diddy stuff from back in the day with the two white rappers in the middle.
Also MGK said some shit about Eminem's daughter or something and that is one guaranteed way to set Eminem off.
I don't even know who the fuck MGK is. And why is Eminem still putting out music?
To make money and share his music with his fans?
I think Eminem is in or around the top 5 in Facebook likes, this diss song already hit the 27 million plays and it wasn't even been posted on Youtube for 12 hours, every single album he has put out since 2000 has gone to #1, Kamikaze (without being affected by being a surprise album) being the 8th one in a row.
So yeah, I'm guessing some people kind of care about what he has to say.

I think it's funny that some people think "Eminem is old and irrelevant" is some interesting take.

Lol right! The dudes one of the best ever, doesn’t matter how bad his last couple albums were people will ALWAYS listen. Do people stop reading their favorite authors or watching their favorites actors after a bad book or
movie?
Nickelback probably sold a lot of records too. Who cares. Eminem is corny. I can't take a 45 year old guy putting out a "diss track" seriously and am amazed that anyone other than teenagers and college kids eat this up.
they were never good. I happen to find Eminem corny too but in the universe that is hip hop, a ton of it is inherently corny anyway.
I didn’t particularly like Kamikaze but I know I flat out hated MGKs Rap Devil. It was terrible. So from that standpoint it was fun to listen to Eminem verbally dismember him.
Eminem’s talent is still extraordinary. His albums don’t do it for me anymore but I’d definitely listen to him before just about anyone else. And he’s still incredibly popular and not in a shitty celeb sort of way. He’s still able to produce quality records, and has his hand in a bunch of other things within the industry. He isn’t a comic book movie.
Well, someone is buying Nickelback records. A quick google search tells me they're just outside the top 10 best-selling acts in music history.
I think they're terrible, but music being "good" or "bad" is subjective.
I just don't think album sales or popularity are good measuring sticks for talent. Music...movies.. all types of entertainment there are often really corny productions making tons of money.
Giving me a rundown of Eminem's album sales doesn't impress me when I can rattle off all types of crap that sold well, too.
I thought by the 3rd Hangover movie or however many they've made that the whole thing was super, super played out - but people were still paying money to see it.
I was sort of just taking a shot at me feeling old in a roundabout way because Eminem first hit the public when I was in like 9th grade. And I've literally never heard of MGK. So, I'm obviously out of the loop.
People take it too personally when others criticize artists they like. I feel super cringey listening to Eminem at this point in time... the guy is 45 years old and still putting out diss tracks. But to each their own, of course. I like plenty of stuff that other people don't.
I don’t care for his music anymore so it isn’t personal or anything. He’s got undeniable talent sill regardless of if you enjoy it or not. It’s definitely lame that grown men do diss tracks but once you get past that and listen to both, you see a man amongst boys.
with the likes of revival and sometimes Relapse. That album to me is a masterpiece and as good as anything he put out. Meanwhile Recovery is overrated I think.
Nickleback out of nowhere in a discussion about Eminem trying to correlate the two? Everyone knows they sucked, they didn't care and even admitted it they just make corny easy music.
Eminem on the other hand? Connected hiphop, rap to the white community, suburbs and neighborhoods and was the artist of the decade from 2000-2009 and he only put out 4 albums. His first three CDs were iconic. No one stays that consistent and on top forever. That goes with any show as well, that is why they have to cancel them.
You said who cares? I responded plenty of people do as I alluded to earlier.
To be fair, I never knew there was an age limit to putting out a diss track. MGK put it out first and Eminem is just supposed to take it and say nothing? That's what he is literally known for.
As a matter of fact why are you even here? If you don't like him cool but I am not understanding your presence on an Eminem thread. Again, he is one of the biggest artists of all-time, maybe the biggest in recent memory. A phenomenal lyricist too.
I am not seeing also where because someone is 45 they have to stop Â
People still go to Guns and Roses to see Axl fat and out of shape shake his hips, Mick Jagger look 99% dead, Bill Burr even though he's boring and married
why is rap being compared to being immature? I am not getting this. They should stop rapping because the hit a certain age?

Really the only argument I see for that that has some validity is that rappers have this "hard" image and that people are you usually not seen as tough guys the older they get. I guess rockers have a similar image to a certain extent so that argument isn't great.

Even worse. Grown men are making this. Eminem is 45. MGK is 28.

There’s a pretty massive difference in comparing Eminem to Nickelback and it’s got nothing to do with sales.
Giant meteor, please hit earth ffs.
