NFT: Breakfast/brunch recommendations in Boston

Beezer : 9/15/2018 10:57 am
BeezKid and Ivsaw the Mets pound the Saux at Fenway last night. Loved going to church. Great time.

Looking for recs for the best no-frills joints for breakfast/brunch. We are partial to greasy spoons known for the food. Not so much on atmosphere or “chains.”

The local flavor would be great.

Heading out in a half hour. Thanks!

(Found Theo’s online, 4.7 Stars. Looks solid. But wanted to check with “the people.”)
Heard it was good

but be careful - it is still a cash-only place I think.

but my favorite hole in the wall joint in Boston is Galleria Umberto. Sicilian pizza, calzones, and arancini.

Fantastic food. I've been going for probably 15 years and it's been the exact same every time.

Not a Boston resident but go a few times each year. I go to Mike's every time.

Mr. Dooleys in the financial district has an awesome full Irish Breakfast at a very reasonable price. It is an old Irish pub that feels like Ireland.

We ended up wandering through the North End in a really cool area we suspect was Boston’s version of Little Italy. Tried going to Theo’s but it was tiny and people out the door waiting so we decided to just take in the sights. Ended up at a little corner spot called Dino’s. Waited on by Dino himself, 70-year-old Italian gentleman. Great food. Order at the counter, he brings it to you. I got the grilled chicken parmigiana (of course) and my son got the steak sub. HUGE!!! And so good. Five-star recommendation. I got up to grab some extra napkins and Dino intercepts me halfway, says “I got you I got you.” Just a super friendly guy and atmosphere in a little Italian neighborhood. So many Italian restaurants and bakeries. Very cool feel. Had a bit of an NYC Little Italy-meets-SoHo.
