At least McNeil, Nimmo and Smith are playing. But I gave up a long time ago trying to figure out why Jackson plays so much
Glad to see Austin "Lou Gehrig" Jackson back in.
Oh well, at least he went yard yesterday. Maybe his recent mega-slump is over.
At least the young core of Rosario, McNeil, Conforto and Nimmo ride again.

every fucking day??? There has to be some kid in the Minors we could be giving a look at.

Less miserable to see him in the AL park, I guess. None of the young players I want to see are really suffering for it this weekend.
But, man, I hope we go with Conforto, Nimmo, Bruce/Smith OF rest of the way with the other one of those last two playing first.
Pretty sure we'll see Nimmo and/or Smith riding pine against lefties tho, which is silly.
What league is that.

Absolutely amazing year.
What league is that.
The National League.

Why aren't Acuna and Soto on that list? Acuna has a 152 wRC+ and Soto has a 154 wRC+
He's 7th, 9th if you include Soto and Acuna, in the NL in OPS.

As for OPS. FINE. Showing Nimmo is in the 7th in the league is the same thing. Obviously the purpose of wRC+ and OPS+ is to make it more fair so somebody like Arenado(who plays in Colorado) and Nimmo (who plays in a cavern) can be compared equally.
My point was to just show Phi that he's one of the best in the league in OPS since some find that easier to understand.
Scary part is most of the front office didn’t see it coming :(

I wasn't suggesting Nimmo wasn't having a great season. I just don't understand why they didn't include two of the best players in the National league on that list.
Acuna needs 75 PA in Braves remaining 14 games. That's 5.35 PA per game which doesn't seem possible.

Zobrist is listed with 460, Nimmo 481, Soto 440, Acuna 424.

Soto needs 62 PA in the Nats remaining 13 games to make the "official" leaderboards. That's 4.8 PA per game which seems too high for him to make it.

That puts Zobrist and Nimmo are above the 3.1 PA per game threshold, so they are currently on leaderboards.
Soto .304/.421/.534...955 OPS... 154 wRC+ 3.8 fWAR
440 PA 5 SB, 20 HR, .358 BABIP
Acuna Jr. .296/.372/.582....954 OPS...152 wRC+ 4.0 fWAR
427 PA 14 SB, 25 HR, .348 BABIP
Buehler 118.2 IP, 2.88 ERA, 3.14 FIP, 9.94 k/9
0.99 WHIP, 2.6 fWAR
He's a good player and much better than I thought he would be. He is a very good complimentary player, like a Nick Markakis type in his prime, but not a middle of the order hitter. He is definitely a building block.

Soto or Acuna and even though it's a cop out co-winners would be perfectly fair. Both had great seasons with only minor nitpicks between them. Soto has walked more and struck out less, Acuna hit for a little more power, also stole more bases and played better D by the metrics. I'd have both of them pretty far ahead of Buehler.

Arenado, Yelich, Goldschmidt, Harper, Freeman, etc. That's not at all a slight to say, just reality - they do more damage. But where he ranks in relation to those guys doesn't matter much, more important is he's a player you can win with just need a few more like him at other positions.

Markakis is a good comp. With his hustle I think there's some Gardner there too. Depending on where he ends up settling in the field/lineup could even see him filling a role like Granderson did in his better years as a Met. Definitely a good glue guy to have somewhere in order, but totally agree he's not a true middle of the order hitter. Long term I'd still value Conforto over him for that reason, he has middle order potential - though I hope he can get away from being such a 3 outcome player and goes back to being more of the pure hitter he was when he first came up.

This year the award is as close as ever. Soto, Acuna Jr, and Buehler all deserve it.

It's a tough call, had Acuna not missed a month with a knee injury this would be an easy decision. I go back and forth on this.
