Seems they must have some hope for him this season
Interesting question. Could mean they have hope for him for this season. Could be some difference between Non-Football injury and Injured Reserve lists. Good question to tweet at Pat Traina.
I liked it at the time. Seemed like a more dynamic end than Hill and a potential 34 DE who could actually get after the passer. It's not like they knew he'd have a thyroid (or whatever it is) condition.
That said, I really wanted an OL at that point. Jamarco Jones was my preference. But the pick wasn't crazy.
No Doubt The Giants Love Their First Four Picks...
And their 4th RD pick (Lauletta) was good enough to unseat Webb.
Plus they traded their 4th and 6th to the Rams for Ogletree. So it's a little hard for me to get upset that their 5th RD pick hasn't been on the field yet.
If RJ has to sit out the year to get healthy it will be like getting another pick next year to go with Beal, plus 2 4th RD picks (one supplemental) and 3 7th RD picks.

How do we have three 7th rounders? I know 1 is from Jones...
...in the 5th round, I wish they would have picked Maurice Hurst, who was the better player and a good 3-4 DE.
Picking McIntosh when he had a known thyroid issue is a real headscratcher.

RJ McIntosh's decision to sit out testing and on-field drills at the NFL Combine earlier this month wasn't voluntary.
A source informed InsideTheU earlier this week that the former Miami defensive lineman left the scouting event in Indianapolis early after doctors discovered an issue with his thyroid. McIntosh has since been put on medication, but the effects from the condition are still evident.

Check out my link above that is an article that came out about a month before the draft. Everyone knew or should have known that the had a thyroid issue. He left the combine because of it.
