Resulting in a crooked draw, and, a more crooked loss.....boxing, the judging of boxing, seems to be rigged, unless you knock down and then, knock out your opponent.
just look at GGG's face vs. Canelo's at the end. GGG might have to go to the hospital, he got battered. Canelo had the cut over his left eye but otherwise looked normal. On the most primal of levels (who hurts the other guy the most) Canelo definitely won
And I thought GGG won the first fight.
As for the scorecard I would have called it a draw Â
as GGG's superior technical skill countered Canelo's brute power and the damage Canelo inflicted enough for GGG to keep the belts, but it's not a big robbery like the first one (which GGG definitely won but was called a draw)
tonight, Canelo dictated what kind of fight this would be. He spent most of the first fight on the ropes, letting GGG pressure him, then countering and sliding out of the way of major damage.
This time around, Canelo stood at center ring and made GGG circle around him. He took way more big shots, but I think he also landed more than he did in fight #1, but not allowing GGG to tighten the screws on him made the difference tonight.
a close fight. Also had him winning the 12th, as did Steve Weisfeld, who is without question the best judge in boxing. Not sure how anyone scored that round for Golovkin but boxing is so subjective, you never know.
Put it this way, I think he clearly won rounds 1,10-12, that is four right there, so in order for it not to be a draw you need to think Canello won 7 of the 8 rounds from 2-9. That didn’t happen. This might not have been as bad a robbery as last year’s fight, but it was still the wrong decision

But you thinking he clearly won those rounds doesn’t make it so.
But definitely not as big of a farce as the first fight - you clearly have a case for Canelo. Subjectively I thought GGG owned the back half of the fight, even though Canelo edges Round 12. Irony is that in scoring, Round 1 may have been the deciding round of the fight.
Jim Lampley really ruined this fight for me. Holy shit - STFU and let the audience observe and the commentators do their thing.
Buffer no longer works for HBO. He’s signed on to DAZN, an app that will feature boxing here in the US.
HBO appears to be getting out of the boxing business. They’ve played second fiddle to Showtime ever since Mayweather left in 2012. Many other boxers followed suit. Top Rank leaving last year for ESPN was probably the final nail in the coffin.
Boxing will be returning to network TV (Fox) monthly going forward. Will feature studio shows on boxing each month, a pre and post show as they do with the NFL, and much more. The landscape has shifted. This was both Golovkin and Canelo’s last fight on their respective agreements with HBO. They could go to ESPN next.
I watched again this morning and feel it was a draw. Â
My bias came through last night being a fan of Golovkin and disliking De La Hoya. It was a great fight, especially those later rounds. Both showed tremendous heart, Golovkin battling back after being outclassed early, and Canelo taking some of those combos late and coming right back. That might have been the most impressive aspect of the fight. He was clearly dazed on 3 occasions and responding by throwing bombs.
It's just really unfortunate for GGG. The real "robbery" is his legacy. He should have come away from these two fights with a win and a draw, not a draw and a loss. Says he would do a 3rd fight "under the right conditions". I'm guessing one of those conditions is staying out of Nevada.
Canelo almost knocked out GGG in the last round? What fight were you watching? GGG took shots but was never close to being hurt.
He was either hurt or exhausted. Even his trainer conceded that he lost the twelfth. For long strerches of that round, he refused to engage Canelo, even as Canelo egged him on, motioning with his hands like, “WTF? Fight me.”
Compubox numbers dont back up you view of round 12
You mean they don’t back Golovkin’s own trainer’s point of view.
Who cares about CompuBox? It’s not scientific, it’s hardly accurate and it’s oft-times downright biased. It’s two men scoring the fight from home like the rest of us. No boxing fan truly uses that as some sort of serious metric. It’s a homeless version of PFF scores and that’s saying something.
I'm a GGG fan but scored it ^ rds to 5 and one even Â
Yep.
I gave GGG rounds 1, 7, 8, 10, 11, and 12.
First Fight I still can't believe ended in a draw that was a farce.
Could have been a somewhat believable outcome if not for that obvious bullshit.
Thanks Oscar!!!
Quote:
from the previous fight, it was GGG... but fucking Canelo gets the benefit of the doubt twice now.
Thanks Oscar!!!
and "home field" advantage in both fights
Lots of people tonight had this one ending in a draw.

exactly... and you see who keeps getting the shit end of the deal.
And I thought GGG won the first fight.
Canelo actually won the last round, he opened up a big cut on GGG and almost KOed him
Tonight Canelo pushed the action, dominated with his left and had the energy in the last two rounds.
I had the fight 115-113 - but if tonight was a draw I understand if the champ gets the advantage. But G didn't win this fight.
